The LynxTWO "A" Model Sound Card is a 24-bit digital audio PCI card that builds on the award winning performance of the LynxONE and delivers performance that exceeds stand-alone converters. The "A" Model provides four 24-bit balanced analog inputs and outputs along with a single stereo AES/EBU or S/PDIF digital I/O. When installed in a typical computer, the card is able to offer 115dB minimum "real-world" dynamic range. The product is primarily oriented toward the market of professional solutions for audio/video and, in particular, for processing data for DVD-Audio disc and mastering.
Based on the premise that fewer potential noise sources are better, the analog signal chain is relatively simple. It consists of a minimal number of surface-mount, low-noise active components and precision resistors. Differential amplifiers on the analog inputs and cross-coupled electronically balanced line drivers on the outputs provide high rejection of common mode RF and power line noise that is picked up on connected cables, which is especially important in computer-based studios. The LynxTWO supports both balanced and unbalanced connections. Selection of either +4dBu or -10dBV nominal levels is accomplished through software control of gold-contact relays.
Supporting both AES/EBU and S/PDIF formats with sample rates of up to 96kHz, the LynxTWO employs two phase-locked loop stages on its digital input to clean up incoming signals and offer excellent jitter rejection. Word clock synchronization is available via BNC connectors and if more analog or digital I/O channels are required, up to four additional cards can be connected to provide a phase-locked multi-track system.
The LynxTWO supports sample rates from 8kHz to 200Khz, comes with a 32 channel, 32-bit digital mixer with 16 sub outputs and has multiple dither algorithms per channel. The card is compatible with LStream modules for ADAT and TDIF standards and has Windows 98/ME/NT/2000 drivers and Macintosh ASIO 2.0 drivers.
