Sekonic 401-624 Overview

Prevents erroneous light measurements caused by lens glare. Also acts as a step-up ring for attaching filters to the front of the zoom lens (up to 40.5mm filter)

I do a lot of spot measurements and got tired of using my hand as a lens shade.

great for eliminating stray light into the meter, and perfectly sized to flip around the other way for putting the meter in the bag -- exactly what I wanted

question

I have a 62mm circular polariser. Can I use the 40.5 to 62 mm step up ring and then mount the circular polariser ?
Asked by: Shree L.
I have used step-up rings on lenses (e.g. step-up from 72mm to 77mm) but have found them to be a little awkward at times. For example, here your filter is 11.5 mm larger than the hood. That is almost 1/2 inch so you may catch it on things. On lenses you have the problem that the hood for the lens may not fit ... but that is not a problem here because you are attaching this to the hood :)If you have a set of 62mm filters you want to use in this application, the step-up ring is something to consider but if you only intend to use the circular polarizer, I think I'd buy a 40.2mm polarizer. I did.
