Slik 330DX overview

  • 1Description

This black, SLIK Pro 330 DX Tripod with SH-705E 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head supports up to 8.8 lb, measures 23.6" when folded, and includes a quick release plate. Each of its 3-section legs features an independent spread, a 3-position angle lock, and flip locks for fast deployment. The included push-and-pull, rapid center column is multi-sectional, which allows it to be converted to a shortened center column. This feature permits a minimum height of 20.1", or 9.6" when the center column is shortened. The SLIK Pro 330 DX Tripod provides a maximum height of 48.8", 52.5" with its center column shortened as well as fully raised, and 63.0" with the complete column fully raised.

Cameras, sport optics, or camcorders that are compatible with a 1/4"-20 mount can be connected to the quick release plate, which is secured to the tripod's pan-and-tilt head using a quick release cam lock. The head can be rotated 360°, and tilted 90° backwards or forwards, as well as sideways for portrait orientation. Each of these three movements function independently of each other and can be locked into place.

For added versatility, the center column is reversible, facilitating low-angle photography where an attached camera is positioned among the tripod's legs instead of above them. Foam covers on each of the legs provide a secure and comfortable grip while moving the tripod, and rubber feet help to enhance stability on a wide variety of surfaces.

    Slik 330DX reviews

Pro 330 DX Tripod with SH-705E 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head (Black) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great intermediate tripod Great tripod for the money. While it may not be as light as some, and it may not support as much as others, it is a great step between flimsy junk tripods and the pro tripods costing hundreds. The head is smooth and sturdy for my longest lens (70-300 VR) and adjustments are very well controlled. Especially nice is the ability to unscrew the center column and spread the legs wide for very low work. Makes macros of flowers and the like much easier. The only downsides are that the quick release plate is not a standard shape and so you'll have to buy all new plates for your gear. Small price to pay for such a good value tripod.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great tripod I really like this tripod. I am a petite woman and wanted something manageable. This has plenty of height for my use. The build quality is excellent and this tripod is solid. I love the looks of the all-black version. I am a freelance photographer and this is easy to transport to jobs, and has all the features I like, except for one. I would like levels on the tripod itself. I do have an electronic level in my DSLR though so it's not a big deal for me. I would have given this 5 stars if it had 2 built in levels however, like some other models. Wish I could give it something like 4.8 stars because otherwise it is exactly what I need!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FANTASTIC gear I love this tripod. Everything is flawless, the machining is superb. The legs are adjustable to where they can be spread out past the normal configuration. One way I use the tripod is on a coffee table, as I am able to reverse the geared vertical piece---and mount the camera BETWEEN the legs of the tripod, and shoot straight down for taking photos of artwork. One of the handles can be stored, to make it compact. I can't find anything wrong with this unit, quite in the opposite, in fact. I am very pleased.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy, durable. I wanted a tripod mainly for lightweight travel for still photography, but one that would move smoothly enough I could potentially shoot some video panning on it. This seems like it will work. I would like it to be a little lighter, but that's a compromise with stability. I bought the shorter center column since it still reaches about as high as I ever shoot (I'm 5'7) and allows for a lower minimum height. The only thing I don't like is that you have to pull each leg out individually even when they're unlocked, because there's still a little friction. I had a cheaper Slik tripod, and with the friction locks off, gravity was enough to extend the legs, making for a very quick setup. The quick-release camera attachment is nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value. My wife and I took a photo class a few weeks ago and the instructor, a professional landscape photographer who is published in national magazines, was using the Pro-330DX. He told the class that this was, in his opinion, the best tripod deal to be found. We watched him in action and played with his tripod as part of the class and were sold. We have found this tripod to be easy to use and easy to pack around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 6' and under never bend over to compose The last time I bought a tripod was in 1969. They have really improved. This Slik is great for tall users. It allows me to view and compose standing erect with the camera's view finder at my eye level. I hated to use my 1969 model, but the Slik is so easy to set up I use it regularly even when not necessary. I take pictures of the moon and planets any night that there is something interesting. The tripod is stable, precision built (threads are well machined and smooth). Everything moves easily and without hesitation. This is a very well built product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good tripod for the price I liked it a lot, even though I don't use tripods very much. The only drawback is the height adjustment, which is a little clumsy, but you get used to it. Overall, great product in a good price. On the plus side, its legs can be adjusted into three different angles, so you can put your camera very close to ground.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from must have tripod This is my first professional tripod and it took me a while to decide on one that's good and yet within decent price range. And I'm very happy with this purchase. It's easy to use, not too heavy, the good movable head and overall nice tripod. I'll be using this mostly for nature photography.
