Wimberley has a system of flash bracket components that are modular, versatile and easily stowed in a small space when not in use.  Known as the Shape-Shifter Modular Flash Bracket System, the components connect without tools.  None of the combinations slip, twist or creep-even during intense action.  They're integrated with the venerable Arca-Swiss type quick release system, now dominant as the industry standard for macro and telephoto shooting.

Wimberley's F-1 Telephoto Combo Flash Bracket is ideal to use with a lens equipped with a tripod collar (with an Arca-type plate length appropriate to the size of the lens attached) and with the addition of the Module 8 perpendicular plate, you can use it with a camera as well.  With Module 1 you have the ability to adjust the vertical distance between flash and lens, as well as the ability to put the flash off-center from the lens.  As with all of the Wimberley Shape Shifter components, and unlike other manufacturer's products, the parts are captive to prevent detachment from accidentally unscrewing them too far while in the field.

F-1 Telephoto Combo Flash Bracket is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Precision Tank I bought this to use for bird photography from a blind in order to mount my flash to provide fill flash at distances of 6-15 ft. A friend owns this Wimberley bracket and he highly recommended it. My first reaction was that it couldn't be worth almost $. After shopping around at other flash brackets that were much less expensive, I decided that I wasn't willing to risk buying a potentially inferior product. So, I swallowed hard a went with the Wimberley. I'm really happy and glad that I didn't try to save a few bucks. This thing is built like a precision tank. The reason for only 4 stars is because of the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Must have Accessory for Long Lenses The quality is what you expect from Wimberley. it is sturdy enough to mount a heavy speedlight or a small video camera. It's design is such that it does not intrude on lens or camera operation. All controls remain accessible. There is some vertical adjustmetn possible, but no horizontal, so if you have a wide lens it could get in the way. I use it with a 600mm F4 and there is no problem as long as you mount it at the rear where the lens is narrower. I am not so sure it can be used with a mirror telephoto, if you still have one of those around. the bracket breaks down into a very small package, making it easy to store in a relatively small camera bag. I gave it only 4 stas because it is expensive. it is well-engineered, but it seems that it can be mass produced for a lot less than they charge for it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality gear easy to use I bought it to separate the flash from the camera. It is expensive, but very easy to set up and high quality, expected from Wimberley products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive, but buy it once and use it for life I bought this bracket for telephoto flash bird photography. A major I chose this particular item is that the piece that attaches to the lens foot of my telephoto(s) is reversible, that is, it can be mounted with the Arca-type clamp jaws facing up or down, which makes it fit onto just about any lens foot. The build quality is up to the usual high Wimberley standards. Yes, it is expensive, but it's an item that will last longer than I will, most likely :-). It's also nice to buy gear that is made in the U.S.A., at least sometimes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Workmanship I use this flash bracket for bird photography and with my Wimberley Sidekick. As with all Wimberley products, the Combo 1 flashh bracket is well made and based on the Arca-Swiss system. I would not hesitate to recommend this bracket to any potential purchaser.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as advertised but it's overpriced! This item does what you need it to do. It gets your flash away from your camera. It also keeps your flash pointed at your subject, no matter if your shooting in portrait or landscape mode. It attaches easily & securely to the lens plate. Has made a big difference in my bird photography. The only con is the price. I've bought other flash brackets, not for the Wimberley though, for about half the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the trick...but pricey. The bracket is well made and machined very well out of aluminum. And it fits well on the replacement foot on my 600VR. The only gripe I have is that $ is about $50 more than what I think the value is for this item. I also have the bracket that fits on the Wimberley w200 head and much prefer it to this one.
