the main body of the divider fits perfectly and comes with plenty of internal dividers to help organize my gear

Fit is perfect in my case and also works pretty well in the IM2726 case, but the padded dividers are just one size, except for 2 really long ones that can only go long ways in the case. Also the shorter dividers only have hard side velcro so there is no way to connect two short dividers together if you wanted to.

I want to use this in an Pelican IM2720. dimension of 22 x 17 x 10. will this fit? I may have to add a small foam to the bottom of my case.

The Pelican 1615 Padded Divider Set for 1610 Series Cases is designed for the Pelican 1610 Case. This case is 21.8 x 16.7 x 10.6". So it should fit but will not be the exact correct size when used in the Pelican IM2720.

How is the equipment protected at the bottom of the Pelican 1610, after installing these dividers?

Primarily its protected by the hard-shell case. The bottom of the insert is is the same thickness as the wall and 2 center dividers.

Will this fit a pelican air 1615? I need something to suit that.

I am using this divider set in a 1610 with Interior Dimensions (inches): 21.78 x 16.69 x 10.62 and it fits perfectly. The 1615 has interior dimension: 29.59 x 15.50 x 9.38 so I don't think it will fit. You need the padded divider set made for the 1615.
