Audix APS911 Overview

The Audix APS911 Battery-Operated Phantom Power Supply and Converter is a battery-operated phantom power supply for energy-efficient electret mics that can also adapt 48V phantom power from a mixer or preamp to the mini XLR connection found on these mics. Use it with Audix's lavalier, hanging, boundary plate, and HT2 headset microphones.

Special extras on the APS911 include an on/off switch and a bass roll-off feature.

Battery-Operated Phantom Power
Using a single 1.5V AA battery, the Battery-Operated Power Supply outputs 9V of phantom power for energy-efficient electret mics including Audix lavalier, hanging, boundary plate, and headset models.
Adapt Standard Phantom Power for Electret Mics
The Phantom Power Adapter also mates with phantom power sources on standard XLR connectors (such as 48V mixer channels) and assures that power is supplied to the correct mini XLR pins for Audix electret mics. In this case, the APS911 is in passive mode, passing whatever current is supplied.
On/Off Switch
A built-in on/off switch helps conserve battery life and also acts as a mode selector when using the APS911 as either a battery-operated phantom power source or a passive phantom power converter.
Bass Roll-Off
Clean your recordings of low-end rumble, structural noise transmitted through a mic stand, or unused frequencies by activating the handy 150Hz low cut filter. Since most human speech occurs above this cutoff, you'll want to use it routinely for voice recording.

Audix APS911 Reviews

Can work with other than Audix mics with mini XLR connectors

I have Shure PGA31 and WH30 headset mics and DPA 4066 headset mics and wanted to see if they could be used with phantom power direct to mixer. The Shure mics terminate in TA4F (mini xlr) and I bought the microdot to TA4F connector for the DPA 4066. The Audix APS911 worked with the Shure PGA31 but not with the Shure WH30. It also worked with DPA 4066 and the TA4F adapter. None of the mics worked in pass-thru where the 48v phantom power for mic comes from mixer instead of the adapter's batteries.

question

Can this be used to supply power for the Electro-Voice RE92L?
Asked by: Anonymous
I don't know anything about yhe Electro-Voice RE92L. But I use it with my Shure PGA31 TGQ and it works perfectly... Obviously it needs an adapter cable from ta4f to ta3f (but I've found it in the web...)

question

The input connector is listed as mini XLR female - according to pics online, it is mini XLR Male, which would make sense. Can anyone confirm?

Obviously it's a mini XLR male! And the stuff does its job perfectly. I use it with my Shure condenser head-microphone (with an adapter cable from ta4f to ta3f)...

question

Can this be used with other than Audix mics?
Asked by: Jim B.
Yes providing it has the same TA 3 connector as the Audix power supply. Also this is not a +48V phantom power supply. It is a 9V power supply. It's for electret mic's. It can work with a +48V phantom power coming from another source such as a mixer.
