Samson C01 overview

  • 1Description

The C01 from Samson is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone well suited to project studio recording. It features high-SPL handling like a dynamic microphone, while retaining the clarity of a condenser microphone.

The C01's 19mm diaphragm achieves high sensitivity with a flat frequency response. Its hypercardioid polar pattern maximizes off-axis signal rejection, focusing on sound directly in front of the microphone. The C01 is built to be rugged with an all-metal housing and grille, while the output stage features a gold-plated XLR connection. The C01 requires phantom power.

    Samson C01 reviews

    C01 Large-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent mic for its price It's a very good microphone for it's price. If you want agood microphone, but don't have enough money this mic willdo the job. Problems Encountered: Nothing yet, and use it for a year

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Mic for mid-level studios I have used the mic for about 4 years and I haven't had any problems. What surprised me most is that even with sounds greater than 137dB, which is the limit for the mic, it did not show any clipping effect exhibited by most mics. Very good for miking instruments like high hat, toms and the snare drum. Of course isn't meant for that but it does fine. The studio in which I work has 6 of them and none has any problem. I would recommend it to anybody with a budget constraint.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good mic in home studio, Cymbals come through brite,,and I use 2 overheads and high hat does not need a mic. I paid a lot for the drum mic's and did not have enough left over to buy what a lot of people were telling me to buy for overhead mic's so I thought what the heck.. buy 2 of these untill you get the money..they sound great..I guess they can sound better I have another mic. I paid $ for and it stays in the case..

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good sound for the money I love the rich sound this mic gives on male voices and most musical instruments - especially piano. I'd give 5 stars, but its self noise makes it unusable for recording anything that is quiet. Hiss intrudes into recordings of acoustic guitars and all but the loudest vocalists. I find the C-01 useful for amplified instruments and some horns, as long as the bell of the trumpet is kept a reasonable distance from the mic so as not to distort. For the price, why not keep a pair in your kit?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for Me The first thing I would like to say I had this microphone about 4 years ago and it had a great sound back then and I sold it, so I decided to order a new one. After testing the C01, to me it's not the same sound. The C01 seems to have a limiter or a compressor built into the FET op-amp of this Mic. Does not have an open free sound to it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Condenser Mic! I purchased this condenser mic for my first try using a DAW setup. Thus far I am very impressed with the build quality and the sound quality. No concerns about longevity with this one. It does a great job on my vocals. Very clear and honest reproduction of whats going into it. Absolutely no regrets regarding this purchase!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mic! I bought this mic to use for studio recording but tried it on my amp at a gig and that's where it stays now. The clarity is awesome! It is a little big and heavy but that's not a problem to me. Well worth the money for many applications!
