    Ilford HP5 Plus 400 reviews

    HP5 Plus 5x7" 25 Sheets Black & White Print Film (ISO-400) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for an intro photo course In my photo course, I start by having students discover that they can make good images with almost no technology. They shoot with a pinhole camera on 5x7 film, which is a great size to contact print. It's big enough to yield a nice image scale, but doesn't require a huge camera as would 8x10, and fits my limited supply budget. HP5 is fast enough to keep the exposure time reasonable, and it's pretty forgiving in latitude (which is very helpful for their manually estimated and timed exposures). The size also fits our film developing tanks, and the emulsion is tough enough that my students don't have to be super careful to avoid scratching.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best, post old-school Tri-X I used this for historical documentation (HABS/HAER) in both flat and high contrast light, from pre-dawn through high noon light, and it responds well in all situations. Would love to see it in 50 sheet boxes here, but other than that I'm satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I've used HP5 (from 35mm to 11x14 sheet film) for many, many years. I know just what it will give every time I make an exposure. Its wide latitude, excellent tonal scale and amazing shadow detail can't be found in any other brand of film. I'm just so thankful that Ilford remains committed to analog image making.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Roert Langham Need the extra speed for filters and small F-stop outside and in the studio. Very consistent. I like it better than the FP4. Processing in HC110 or Xtol. Xtol gives great results and a little more ISO. I'm shooting it in 5X7 format.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still the best Given that our choices of 5x7 film are much diminished, it's lucky that Ilford still cuts HP5+ to our orphan dimensions. It's my favorite film in any format. In a big negative, grain is invisible and tonality is endless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My standard film in 5X7 and 8X10 If you are shooting and need extra contrast in a blue-lit shadow, say a rock wall at Canyon de Chelly, better go with FP4. Otherwise, this is a VERY good film.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from HP 5 and PYRO I tray process; PYRO HD developer via inspection. Takes a good stain and prints well both silver and platinum.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5x7 HP5 Review HP5? What? Listen we all know HP-5, its a forgiving 400 speed film with lots of good general qualities, this review is about the fact that B and H has it in stock and you can get it in here in STL in like 3 days. Yes, for those old luddite's like me using 5x7 B and H is there with the stuff in stock.
