    Sunpak 2001UT reviews

    2001UT Photo/Video Tripod is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 152.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sunpak the Sun King This very inexpensive (I thought the price was a mistake) 48 inch high tripod is exactly what I need for my Canon G10 camera. It is light weight, sets up quickly and holds its positions just fine. They even supply an extra shoe - at this price I don't know how... The included soft case made it possible for me to carry the tripod out of the store, take the subway, see the Met film version of Der Rosenkavalier, walk quite a few blocks in Manhattan and Brooklyn and return to Connecticut after a snowstorm. I use the 2001UT for infrequent studio type shots of artwork and sculpture. For that purpose - and for using the lightweight G10 - this tripod is great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Bargain Useful for taking pictures at night, for panoramas or for that tack sharp landscape picture you always wanted to have. The quality of the product is medium (average). Good things about it are the price, stability and the fact that you have it up and running very quick. The bad ones are that it is kind of heavy and does not have that professional look and construction if you analize the joints and bindings. Its low height doesn't make it very good for portraits of standing people because it limits your image composition since you can not take a picture at the eye level of the subject. Other than that it does its job very good especially when you consider its low price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome travel tripod! I just returned from a 12-day African safari in Tanzania, and I captured the adventure in more than 3000 photos. A tripod is absolutely essential in creating great shots, and the Sunpack 2001UT Tripod fit the bill on my trip. It is lightweight, came with a shoulder-slung case, easily-adjustable with a wide variety of heights, and quick to set up, and also allowed for great video. It also allowed me to be in the pictures with my friends when no one was around to take our photo. I would set up my camera on the tripod, focus, and then set the timer. I was 100% satisfied.

Those guys didnt take return instore when I went there to drop it off, I had to return ship it!!! B&H healed my pain! I am VERY satisfied with their customer service and quality product!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This version is garbage I have been buying Sunpak tripods for years as a good inexpensive tripod for film minded and responsible high school students. Sunpak used to make this in a silver version with different leg construction and that product was great and sturdy, worked well for the purpose. This new model is poorly built, cheap quality, and I go through about 30 of them per year because the legs break at the extension pieces, the heads strip out, and they are overall flimsy. Please bring back the old sturdy construction!!! Until then, I have no choice but to rate this as 1 star. The price is great, but you get what you pay for.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cheap Tripod This tripod seems to be pretty good for how cheap it is however mine broke the second day of using it. While trying to lock the head in place with the hand tightened adjustment rod the bolt on the inside got stripped out pretty easily. I was trying to lock my camera at an angle and it just wouldn't have it I guess. It is not unusable because of the stripped out tightening rod. I didn't have very much weight on it either. Just a very light Pentax K-X with a 50mm prime lens that weighs pretty much nothing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am so happy with my tripod. I am using my Sunpak tripod for my iZ10 Kodak play touch camera to make youtube videos. I read only one bad review before buying it and I can see how that person may have broken his tripod but I was very careful in inspecting it before trying any heavy handedness. The legs have clip locks, not screw locks. This makes it much easier to open and close quickly. I find it to be sturdy for my use. My camera is small but it seems strong enough to hold a regular weight. I don't know about heavy weights. Personally I can't find anything wrong with it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke before first use I purchased 3 of these to use as Speedlite stands. The first one's arm fell off as I pulled it out of the box. The second one's arm broke off as I was tightening it after I pulled it out of the box. And the third one broke while I was on the first shoot. I know they're dirt cheap but come on... I would have been better off placing my Speedlites on an actual pile of dirt. Don't buy these.
