Smith-Victor 575 reviews

575 - Universal to Shoe Mount Adapter is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does the job, that's about it If you have a light, microphone or other accessory that mounts via cold shoe and you need to attach it to a light stand or other stud, this item will do the job. It's fairly well made and easy enough to use but I have problems getting it to slide all the way down onto a stand stud because of the rivet or bolt that attaches the shoe mount to the stud mount underneath; it's slightly in the way and prevents the adapter from being as straight and secure as it would be if it slid all the way down onto the stud. Still works and does what it's supposed to; just not 100% perfectly.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the best solution for umbrellas I used this to mount small umbrellas. First of all the screw that holds the umbrella and tightens the adapter to the light stand ends up crushing the umbrella rod. Also, there's no way to adjust the position of the umbrella, which usually points down. The other problem is the shoe adapter stinks. I have lost a few speedlights when they have slipped out of the shoe during use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Versatile adapter This is a straightforward, versatile adaptor for mounting a hot shoe to light stands whose posts have varying diameters. The large thumb screw makes it easy to use. The only design improvement I'd suggest would be to incorporate a pivot mechanism into the shoe. Of course this would increase the weight, size and cost of this product - but would be extremely useful nonetheless.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not truly universal... Wasn't happy with this adapter. It doesn't fit all stands. For example it doesn't fit my Manfrotto stands (It tightens on an odd angle and can be knocked from position easily). While it fits properly on my Matthews stands. As I needed something truly universal, this was a waste of money for me. Wish the description was more accurate.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from flash yes, umbrella no I was looking for an adaptor to go on my light stand which will hold both a flash and an umbrella. It is not possible to adjust the angel of the umbrella only vertical hight of the stand itself. You would probably want to adjust the direction of your light as well so it gets only half of the job done. I would search for a moving head.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Woks like a charm I use this to mount my LED light to stands & other grip devices. It is high quality with nicely machined parts. I can't think of a downside to the universal shoe mount. There is a nice locking screw which I worry about loosing, except that it is unnecessary for my setup since my light has a locking device on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from simple, yet great product i got 2 of these for both my speedlights that i mount on one light stand. where the screw goes in is metal so dont have to worry about wearing out the plastic, making this product last longer when tighting it really tight for those paranoid photographers :b

Rated 5 out of 5 by from wonderfully sturdy shoe mount! It's small and light so I just leave on the stand and not have to worry much about it. It tightens up so well, that I have zero worries that my heavy SB 900 flash would fall/slip off or anything. Its performance reached my expectations.
