Jobo J1520 Reviews

Film catches on reel while winding

I bought this to replace a Patterson tank that leaks no matter how tight I get the lid put on. I wanted to do constant rotary agitation, and the Patterson would have just leaked chemistry allover. The Jobo is much better so far in that regard. However, the reel is noticeably harder to load than the Patterson. The corners of the film catch along the sides of the reel, making it really hard to load the roll. It's easier if you snip the corners of the film just a bit with scissors, but it would be better if you didn't have to, -1 star for that. Otherwise solid.

I like that I can load 2 rolls of 120 or 2 rolls of 35mm. Unfortunately, mine started leaking after a few months. I'm hopeful that the Patterson tank will last longer.

question

Can this be used outside a dark bag?
Asked by: Elliot
JOBO 1500 series film tanks, like all their tanks must be loaded in total darkness; if you don't have a darkroom, a changing bag or film loading tent works provided you use one big enough.
