Couples this with a Chief Extension Tube and Chief headshell for mounting a heavy projector. Secured this to 3/4 plywood and secured that to two joists and nothing is ever going to move. You get what you pat for and Chief is the chief of mounts

It's a Mounting Plate

There isn't much that can be said about a mounting plate. Either it works or it doesn't. The Chief mount is very sturdy and includes at least one unique feature. Once the extension pole is treaded into the plate, it is secured by a set screw. Chief includes two screws. One is a standard set screw. The other is a special screw that can only be installed or removed with a special (included) hollow end, security Allen wrench. If the security screw is used, it becomes very difficult to remove the pipe without the special tool. This is part of the overall security system built into the Chief mounting system. My only objection to the mounting plate is that it is only available in a black crinkle finish. It is very easy to leave dust marks on the finish, and it does not match the rest of the smooth white finish of the rest of the mounting system parts I ordered. I would recommend that Chief include a scale mounting template. I made one myself using a CAD program. This helped a lot in locating and marking the mounting holes.
