Manfrotto Short Wall Boom Overview

Unlike the Auto Boom, which may be attached to a wall or a stand, this Manfrotto 098SHB Short Wall Boom arm must be attached to a wall. It has a black finish, and includes a double ended stud for mounting a fixture. (old catalog #3386B)

2 Telescopic sections.
160° Vertical and 180° horizontal rotation.
It is also available in an aluminum finish: #098SH.

This is a very solid arm, that moves very smoothly. I'm using it for holding an LED video light, but it's smooth enough that I could see mounting a camera on it for circular pan shots. Can a Baby 5/8" Grip Arm Pin be used, instead of the included adapter, to prevent an attached light from falling accidentally?

The Manfrotto 098SHB Short Wall Boom - Black has a stud with a safety edge just like a Baby Pin. If you wish to use Baby 5/8" Grip Arm Pin it will not fit on Short Wall Boom by itself. I would like to use this to boom out a Canon XA ...

I would like to use this to boom out a Canon XA 30 video camera. would this support that camera and what accessory would I need to mount the camera to this boom arm? thank you

The boom will support a max load of 11lbs according to Manfrotto specs. To mount your camera, My suggestion would be BH# KUKG400412. A camera can be mounted directly or with a 3/8 bushing BH# WIBS100 you can combine a light weight fluid head BH# MA128LP to give the most flexible positioning of your camera.

Yes, this stud is interchangeable with most 5/8 studs. Some examples, Impact SRP-113 Long Double Stud 5/8" B&H # IMSRP113 MFR # SRP-113 Impact Double Ended Spigot with 5/8" Stud and 1/4"-20 Threads B&H # IMSRP114 MFR # SRP-114
