Rycote 065503 reviews

Lavalier Windjammer (White, 2-Pack) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 59.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blown Coverage As producers for Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, the outdoors is our studio. By using laviliere mics we get an audio quality expected from a studio, while remaining in the outdoors. We do this with these. We call the big ones dead cats these are the dead kittens. They will hush a 35 knot wind. They really work well and we use nothing else, but perhaps a 80Hz roll off highpass in post. You can listen to the camera mic and hear what sounds like a hurricane in the camera, but you don't even know the wind is blowing with these on. We buy black, white and grey depending on clothing colors. Recommend three for each mic unit you have in service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cuts Down on Wind Like a Charm! I bought this to use with the EW112P G3 LAV SYS (A) EK100/SK100/ME2 lapel microphone, which I use for documentaries, and it works amazing. I kept the windjammer off the mic for quite a while, thinking I might not have to use it, but when we hit the top of a mountain during an interview tour, the wind blasted the mic and all I could hear was wind noise. After putting on the windjammer, it instantly removed all wind noise, and I could hear the subject perfectly. I have already lost one of the foam covers that goes in between the mic and the windjammer, because they're so small... But a great buy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Furry Windjammer Just Works Using a lapel microphone in an outdoor environment can be a real challenge. It is a rare day when the wind is not blowing outside and introducing unwanted noise into the microphone. The Furry Windjammer solves this noise problem quite well. I have been told by clients that the furry ball is not all that attractive. However it is far less distracting than wind noise interfering with the audio track. That argument alone diminishes any objections to the use of the Windjammer. This is a great tool that I keep in my audio tool kit and it should be a part of yours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great with Sennheiser ME2 lav The ME2 isn't listed as a compatible microphone. I asked B&H for help and they correctly recommended this windjammer with the ME2. I've been a video pro for 10 years and did not have need of a windjammer or dead cat until now. I filmed for three days in gusty conditions and this item saved my audio. Slipping it over the microphone is a little clunky because everything is so small, and it looks somewhat ridiculous on camera - like a Tribble clinging to the speaker's chest. But it works great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You need it! If you are shooting outside using a lav, you need it! All it takes is a little wind in the right direction and your done for. With the Furry Lavalier Windjammer, you do not need to worry. I have all 3 (black, gray & white). the only negative is the it is hard to hide and quite noticable but that is why you have the 3 different shades so you can match or get close to the clothing color it is attached to. I would rather deal with that than wind noise in my audio.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Essential accessory for outdoor audio A windjammer is essential when using a lavalier mic outdoors when there's wind. This little furry thing from Rycote works really well. One important pointer: use it over a foam windscreen on the lavalier, since windjammer needs air space around the mic itself to work its best. I keep two in my sound kit at all times.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from BIG jammer with BIG performance Okay, first of all, I was a little surprised at how big this is. It's easily about 2 in diameter. I thought it would be a little distracting, but after reviewing a lot of different footage where it has been used, it really isn't. It is less noticeable if it's clipped to dark clothing which is why you're looking at the black one anyway, right? Immediately after using it for the first time in the field (with an Audio Technica PRO 88W), I forgot about how big and bulky it looked because this jammer performs! I had talent standing on a windy coastal peninsula with gusts up to 25 MPH and even when facing directly into the wind, I was still getting great, full sound out of the lav. I heard NONE of any wind-buffering noise that I was picking up on my nat mic. If you are going to a shoot in the field, always have one of these handy. This thing is big, but use it as directed and rest assured it will do its job admirably.
