Ultra-telephoto photography is easily achieved with your telescope by purchasing this Celestron T-mount Adapter, along with the SLR camera adapter which works with your telescope. You'll need to take precautions to minimize vibrations, such as locking up the mirror, if possible, as well as using a cable release or remote control to fire the shutter.

First remove the eyepiece. Next, attach the SLR camera adapter where the eyepiece would normally be attached to the telescope, and screw in this T-mount adapter to the opposite end of the SLR camera adapter. Now you can attach your camera to the T-mount and you are ready to begin taking pictures!

Note: Your camera will need to be in fully manual exposure mode, although some brands of camera may also work in aperture-priority autoexposure mode. Additionally, if there is a switch on the camera which chooses the focus mode, that switch must indicate manual focusing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great on Celestron Ultima 80 Stumbled across this one day online and bought it to try it out. I thought I was going to need an additional adapter until I found out my Celestron Ultima 80 spotting scope had the correct threads under the rubber eye cup. This fit perfectly onto my camera. I took a few shots of a full moon at night and the pics turned out great. The detail was much better than what I used to get with my Nikon 55-300mm lens and cropping. Used it during the day on some distant objects with similar results. Looking forward to trying it out on some bald eagles in my area.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Makes your telescope into a camera lens! Pros: Works geat on Celestron NexStar 90 GT easyly attaches D7000 straight to the telescope. Yes, Celestron NexStar 90 GT has a built in T-mount thread on its tube! Cons: Hard to see the marker dot that lets you know where to align the adapter with the camera. On top of that - Nothing will stop you from turning the camera counterclockwise instead of clockwise once you press lens release when trying to remove the adapter from the camera, and that could get very frustrating to undo! You'll need to continue going counterclockwise until you can align the dots again to take the adapter off the camera!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely worth having While the 8-24mm zoom is not one of Celestron's higher end models, it is a quality eyepiece and certainly a worthwhile addiiton to your starter collection. Astronomy purists may poo-poo a zooms, but for the beginner, this single eyepiece meets the need three separate oculars at 1/3 of the cost. While I intend to replace this zoom with individual Celestron LX series eyepieces over time, I'm extremely happy with this piece in the meantime. An added bonus is the fact that this eyepiece already has the standard threads for a camera T-mount adapter. (You'll find them under the removeable eyecup rubber.) Because of this feature, this is an excellent eyepiece for beginning astrphography.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Won't focus to infinity with M42 lenses Cheaply made construction. Requires a small metric hex Allen wrench to retighten the three ring locking screws that loosen after use. Threads are sloppy and threaten to gall on both M42 lenses and the Celestron T adapter for C90 scopes. The Nikon F mount part is very flimsy and fragile. Big Caution - this adapter, which has no optics, will not allow M42 lenses or the vintage C90 scopes to focus to infinity with a Nikon DSLR. If you want to use an old screw mount lens for close up work, then it may work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great If you wish to use the Celestron camera adapter you will need to order the correct adapter for your brand of camera, Nikon or Canon. This replaces the lens and screws onto the tube that fits in place of the eyepiece. I will attach a photo of my Nikon D300 on my Celestron Inspire AZ90 telescope. I'll add that I got much better results with a DX sensor than the FX D700. Even then the corners darken a bit. However, that may be vary depending upon the scope model. Just something to keep in mind.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does the job Purchased to mount my Nikon D80 to a Astronomy telescope. It works fine, and mounts solidly. The only weakness is that, if you have the camera release button depressed, then the t-Mount doesn't have a solid stop when you rotate the ring to remove it from the camera. The T-Mount will continue rotating 360 degrees on the camera. That makes it more difficult to determine when to pull the T-Mount off the camera. Not a big deal, I am getting used to it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product. I bought this and T-ADAPTER for my Nikon D3100 and Celestron NexStar 8i and both work perfectly. Very easy to use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Problem with Celestron Nikon T-mount The T-mount was purchased specifically to be used with a Nikon D70. Problems were encountered, and advice sought and obtained from B&H. Problem could not be solved with B&H advice. The matter was discussed with Nikon Australia technical staff, and their advice was that the T-mount was incompatible with the D70. A very disappointing outcome.
