Celestron 94303 overview

  • 1Description

Celestron put together this 1.25" Eyepiece and Filter Kit to give users essential accessories for planetary observation. This kit includes five Plossl eyepieces that provide a wide range of magnifications on any given telescope, six of the most popular colored planetary filters to enhance the views, a Moon filter that reduces glare from the lunar surface while enhancing contrast, and a 2x Barlow lens which essentially doubles the magnification of any eyepiece used with it. An included hard aluminum carrying case protects the accessories while custom die-cut foam on the inside cushions them.

Eyepieces
  • 1.25" diameter barrels
  • Accepts most standard 1.25" eyepiece filters
  • Anti-reflection multi-coated optics improves light transmission, color rendition, and contrast
  • 52° apparent angle of view
  • 6mm offers highest magnification potential
  • 8mm produces a high magnification, but with a slightly longer eye relief than the 6mm
  • 13mm produces a comfortable mid-range magnification
  • 17mm offers a higher magnification potential than the 32mm without sacrificing brightness
  • 32mm has the lowest magnification potential with the longest eye relief and highest light transmittance
Filters
  • Fits standard 1.25" eyepieces
    #80A Blue:
  • Most popular for the study of detail on Jupiter and Saturn
  • Enhances the contrast on Jupiter's cloud belts
  • Enhances details of the Great Red Spot
  • Brings out detail in Saturn's belts and polar features
  • Also very useful for lunar observing

    #56 Light Green:
  • Excellent for the observation of Martian polar ice caps and for the yellow tinted dust storms on the planet's surface
  • Increases the contrast of the red and blue regions in Jupiter's atmosphere and cloud belts
  • Great for lunar observing
    #25 Red:
  • Blocks the transmission of blue and green wavelengths
  • Sharply defines the contrast between the cloud formations and the lighter-toned surface features on Jupiter
  • Useful for definition of the Martian polar ice caps and maria
    #21 Orange:
  • Reduces transmission of blue and green wavelengths
  • Increases the contrast between these blue/green areas and red/yellow/orange areas
  • Sharpens the boundaries between these areas on the Martian surface
  • Sharpen the contrast in Jupiter's belts and to bring out the Great Red Spot
  • Slightly increases surface details on Saturn
    #12 Deep Yellow:
  • Enhances red and orange features on Jupiter and Saturn, while blocking blue and green wavelengths
  • Lightens the red and orange features on Mars, while reducing, or blocking, the transmission of blue and green areas - increasing the contrast between the two
  • Enhances the blue clouds in the Martian atmosphere
    Moon:
  • Makes viewing the Moon safe when at or near full phase
  • Reduces glare to bring out more surface detail and improve contrast
  • Also useful to bring out surface details on Venus
Barlow Lens
  • 1.25" diameter barrel and eyepiece holder
  • 2x magnification doubles the magnification of any eyepiece used

Eyepiece and Filter Kit (1.25") is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 84.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good introductory astronomy investment I'm using these eyepieces with home-built 8 and kit-built 10 Newtonian reflector telescopes. The optics are first rate: no distortion or chromatic aberration, deep eye relief, and superb clarity. The filters and barlow (where many product skimp) are high quality companion accessories that broaden the usefulness of the entire set. The case is sturdy and generously padded - I tossed a small LED flashlight in the accessory bay in mine, which has come in very handy. Overall the eyepieces are of better quality and higher-precision manufacturing than I expected for the price, and the purchasing experience through B&H was first rate.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A worth while investment I purchased this set for use with my Celestron Omni 150 XLT reflector telescope. I am just starting out in astronomy and I wanted to supplement the stock 25mm Eye piece that came with the scope. I now have a range from 23x to approximately 360x when I use the 2x Barlow lens. The lenses in the set all present sharp, clear images. My only complaint is with the 4mm eyepiece. Due to the tiny aperture, it's a little tricky to acquire your target and keep it in view. The filters work well at enhancing details and bringing out the colors of the planets especially Jupiter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good starter kit Good value starter kit for the price. I bought this kit to complement my Celestron Nexstar 127 SLT telescope. The 32mm eyepiece provides an excellent view of the moon and works well to locate other objects. The moon filter also provides excellent contrast and glare reduction. I find however that the two smallest eyepieces(6 and 8mm) are virtually useless for my scope. Doubt I will be using them much. I also find that the included barlow lens is very dark. I will probably only use it until I can afford to buy a better one. The case is solid and has ample extra room for other bits and pieces that you may want to transport.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SHAFEE's Review: Celestron Eyepiece & Filter Kit Thank you B&H for having this Celestron eyepiece and filter kit! I bought the Celestron AstroMaster EQ 130 MD telescope because my room needed something expensive and luxurious in it after my first ever telescope broke years ago, therefore I needed to update and upgrade my celestial space viewing and this was it for me. I ordered everything online and I received it all in perfect condition- no damage or issues with delivery. The secrets of the Moon look amazing with this telescope thanks to the extra magnified eye pieces. The filter kits are helpful for color extraction. Plus, my ancient, hybrid, reptilian and human friends love coming over thanks to this. Good night time viewings!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for beginners This kit is a good way to get started if you're starting at ground zero like me. The Barlow is good, and the 17mm and 32mm eyepieces are very nice. The shorter eyepieces (6, 8, 13) will be less useful to most folks, with relatively poor eye relief. The filters are also pretty nice. I would rather have seen them include a diagonal instead of the shorter eyepieces, but all in all it's probably a good investment for the total novice like me. I think you need some experience before you invest in higher end eyepieces.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A couple of must haves This kit includes several eyepieces for different magnification levels, color filters for different observing conditions, and a magnification doubler. The Moon filter is a must. Lunar observation is easy and breathtaking, but it's painfully bright without the filter. Likewise, the 25mm eyepiece included with the Skyprodigy 130 is great for starters, but if you want a good look at the planets you'll definitely want the higher magnification of a 6 or 8mm eyepiece. On the other hand, the color filters are only useful in limited circumstances and the magnification doubler (when used with one of the smaller eyepieces) zooms in so closely that even breathing on the telescope can vibrate whatever you're looking at out of view. So, while some of what's included is necessary to get the most out of your telescope, much of it falls under the heading of might be nice to have one of these days. The impressive carrying case does provide a lot of protection for the delicate optics.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Filtters are great - Eyepieces poor I bought this with my C8 SGT-XLT scope. I found it so hard to view anything through the eyepieces, so purchased the X-Cel 10mm eyepiece- then the entire range of X-Cel eyepieces. The eyepieces in this kit are cheaper plossl design and quite small meaning that you have to get your eye right up to the end of the eyepiece to see anything. The 4mm eyepiece in this kit was virtually unusable. The case is fantastic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent value and quality Bought to complement 10 and 20 mm oculars included with my celestron Astromaster 70, very good quality optics at least for this basic telescope (Im new to astronomy). With 32 mm ocular and ND filter included its easy to have full moon in frame, excellent low power observation, max amplification (with 6mm ocular) is very difficult to use because you need pinpoint focus to use, but in daylight I can see clearly a small spider on streetlight, at about 20 m distance! Great if you can focus properly. Included case is big and has space for additional accessories which is great!
