I bought this stand as a backup...i get for what u pay. Don’t get me wrong its a good stand but at the end it feels cheap...i meant the price u are paying it’s really worth buying it when its for back up. I would recommend it for the price.

Works!

Works as intended. Wish it were a little taller, but I knew what I was buying of course. Holding position perfectly for at least a week so far

For the price, it works. Using a video cam on it and stability was needed which this tripod offers.

Defective Tripod! Cannot lock pitch axis!

The pitch axis cannot be locked! No matter how much you tighten the screw, it cannot be locked! In addition, the panel is broken, though I already have one. I can't believe SONY will produce such kind of tripod. I am so disappointed.

Thanks!

I did not order this but it was sent to me.  Nice present from B&H!  The stand is sturdy.

bought Sony VCTR640 as gift for daughter who is also a new mom. tripod is very light weight. leg snap locks are much better for rookies than any sort of screw lock legs. head controls are all intuitive. nice tripod for iphone to dslr!

works great with Nikon D3300

I'm using this to record instructional videos for my students, using a Nikon D3300 with a lav mic plugged in to the audio input. It's working great so far. The build quality of this tripod seems nice, and I like that the tabs you flip to adjust the legs feel nice and sturdy. (I used to own a backpacking tripod that felt much flimsier. I bought that one maybe 20 years ago from MEC, the Canadian answer to REI.) I was originally tempted to get the cheapest possible tripod on Amazon, but the mixed reviews made me nervous. This tripod only cost ten dollars more, so I figured I'd try it instead. It cost the same from both B&H and Amazon, and I have a soft spot for B&H.

question

i have Sony SLT A55V is it compatible with the VCT tripod. I got it from a garage sale it seams that I need a shoe ?
Asked by: DARREN N.
This VCTR640 Tripod comes with a quick release adapter that allows you to connect a camera like the Sony SLT A55V to the tripod. If you have this tripod and need a Quick Release Plate for it we suggest the Velbon QB-4W. It will work with this tripod.

question

can we attach vct vpr 1 remote to this tripod ?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Sony Compact Remote Control Tripod VCT-VPR1 tripod's remote is meant only to attach the VCT-VPR1. So while you can detach the remote from the VCT-VPR1, there is no direct way to mount it to the VCTR640. I do not have the items at hand so all I can do is suggest finding a way to attach the control to the pan handle. One old camera trick is to use automobile radiator hose clamps. Align the control with the pan handle, encircle the two with one or two hose clamps and then tighten. This provides a rock solid attachment thus allowing full control of the tripod and remote. 1 or 2 tape might provide a similar, if stickier, solution.

This tripod has worked well for me at least indoors. It's lightweight and sturdy enough for my canon Xf 105. I've had no problems at all with it.
