Canon 8171A001 reviews

Eyecup Ef for Digital Rebel Cameras is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 181.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Don't judge a book by it's cover The primary purpose of this Eyecup is to give added space between your face and the back of your camera. This works well for those who where eye glasses or want to keep their nose and cheek off of the back of the camera where the preview window is generally located. I wear glasses for reading only and my intent for using this product was to keep my face off the rear display window of my Canon Xsi. Although it did this, it also reduces what you see in the viewfinder by 30%. I guess this is the trade-off. Although I would recommend this for those out there that would not mind this, I have decided that it is not for me at this point.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Rubbish You Can't Live Without How do you use the product? Stick it on the viewfinder. Things that are great about it? Comfortable, keeps light from the sides off your eye to help look at the viewfinder, makes the camera look brand new still. Things that aren't so great about it? You will lose it, guaranteed. Or it'll break. I kept getting lucky with people walking up to me after a shoot asking if the eyecup was mine, well of course it was mine! But the darned thing had fallen off again. Then it was time to order a new one, since I totally lost it. These things are too expensive to keep replacing. I'm looking for something to make it stickier, but not permanently attached.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Seems more durable than the original... I bought two of these so I could replace the stock one on my Rebel XT and have a spare just in case. The original fell off at an air show. I can't say for sure since I used a small piece of gaffer's tape to make sure I wouldn't lose this one, but the replacement seems to attach more solidly than the original. Also, I don't have the issue with the rubber popping out that I used to have with the original.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A 'must' for use with this camera! I had broken my original eye cup and quickly found out how useful it is. However, if I were Canon, I would definitely make the rubber section a deeper profile, like you used to see with older cameras- much like the effect of a lens shade. That would allow you to have a deeper, more flexible space between your eye and the camera body.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thanks for saving my life I decided to sell my Canon T4i to upgrade to a newer camera when I realized that it's missing an eyecup. I've been using this camera exclusively for film making so I never had to use the eyecup. Since I buy all my camera equipment from B&H, I quickly went onto the website and looked up Eyecup for T4i. Little did I know, B&H even sell tiny accessories for specific cameras. I was very happy and impulse bought this product. I was then able to successfully sell the T4i with everything it came in the original box and honestly, I love B&H for having what I needed on the tip of my finger! Thanks!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Eyecup Replacement - Third One I bought this as a replacement after losing two, count 'em, previous eyecups. Both of the previous eyecups fell off, either when pulling the camera out of the carrying case, or in some other situation. It's not that they are wobbly or fall off all the time, but somehow, they eventually come off the camera (they slide into place over the viewfinder). Hopefully, this eyecup will not fall off, but the three stars rating is given because Canon should design these so that they do not fall off so easily.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from eyecup for rebel This is too easy to lose. I found it once but now it's lost for good. Comes off when taking the camera out of the bag and just about doing anything that requires shifting the camera around. I'm glad I didn't try the glue from reading a comment posted that said than another part wouldn't have fit. I'm ordering another one and hope it'll be the last.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Serves purpose, just what I needed I bought this to replace the eyecup that had fallen off my Canon Rebel XT. This eyecup fit perfectly. It feels like it is attached securely, and I am not concerned about it falling off.
