Immediately Improved Handling
Overpriced, but welcome to filmmaking. Read in shut up & shoot documentary guide that pistol grips are handy. Switching from the Rycote INV mkiii, this was much easier to screw onto my ktek boompole. Also it folds for storage, can fit my sennheiser mkh50 pistol grip in a porta brace csb9 bag when you fold the handle. Feels ergonomic. Added length on a boompole and decent balance for handheld. initial impression: seems worth it, saves time.
Rycote lives up to its reputation.
Not much to say except that Rycote has yet to disappoint me. Possibly my only small complaint would be I wish they would include the 40cm XLR Jumper Cable that was made for this model or at least sell it separately.
Nice Addition to a Full Blimp
Nice add to my recording accessories when I need a little isolation in a hurry. Works great with a Rycote Super Softie slide on wind screen/blimp.
Not for stereo mic cable
If you’re using a standard sized mic cable with a mono shotgun, this grip is great. But if the cable is a bit thicker as in a stereo or m/s cable, it won’t snap snugly into the cable guide at the top of the grip and pops out during use - and that kind of defeats the purpose.
Well Built
I really love the built quality and it fits well with all my boom mics which include MKH 416, ME 66 & at875r
rycote, shock, mount, pistol, grip
this gear is awthumb!
Used Product?
Showed up in an open box that showed signs of being opened before. One of the top screws on the mount was missing and needed to be replaced. Some cosmetic damage but works fine otherwise.
not bad
a little plastic-y in the screen that tightens it all in place, but reliable and well built otherwise. the best mic mount we have picked up so far from b&h. that little tightening screw may need to be replaced within a year but its a basic part and is easily replaced.
