Medium Hole Softie Lyre Mount & Pistol Grip is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Verisitle, Useful I wasn't sure if I needed this thing, but now that I have it, I know it's good. This item is useful when you are in tight spaces that won't allow for a boom pole, it's much easier to use than a boom pole (not to mention really light) and what I did NOT know when I bought it is that you can screw mount it onto a boom pole and use it as a directional mount for the mic! That alone is worth the price. If you are setting up a flexible audio set for your low budget shoot, I would totally recommend this product. Oh, and the boom pole mount isn't some chinsey plastic thing. It has a proper metal screw in mount. Looks like bored brass to me...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Look no further I'm a filmmaker that uses this mount in conjunction with the Sennheiser ME series microphones. It works beautifully, there is no noise created by the mount and it holds the mic securely so that I don't have to worry on set about my expensive microphones crashing to the floor. I love the knob compared to other models with a plastic handle that turns - feels much more sturdy. This thing is robust and does the job as it's intended. If you've already got an expensive microphone, protect it with this pistol grip.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Compact and ready to go I travel to Tijuana Mexico a lot for a doc project and this little pistol grip is light, compact and low profile. I haven't used a boom pole attachment yet but it's nice knowing it's very multiuse. It comes with a little XLR cord but you'll most likely have to order another longer one. The only con of this and other pistol grips is that it's uncomfortable about 30 min of use. However the build is nice as far as the audio is concerned and little interference from hand/finger movement.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Medium Hole Softie Lyre Mount & Pistol G I am not a professional videographer. I make short films and I do it on a small, sometimes tiny budget. I was looking for a pistol grip for my shotgun mic and researched what was available in my price range. I ended up buying the Rycote Pistol grip and I am very happy. It is reasonably priced and works very well. The somewhat universal mic holder makes me confident that the mic will never fall out and the shockmount, though simple, works really well. The nut that you loosen to change the angle of the pistol grip is good enough but not great. I think of all of the parts of this unit this is the weak point. I can see it failing in a couple of years (not sooner hopefully) from use. For the money this is a great piece to add to your your tool box if you are an aspiring filmmaker sound recordist.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No complaints! I use this for my 416 mic when I don't need much (or any) wind protection. It's a pretty basic design, but it's durable, lightweight (compared to my Rycote blimp windscreen rig) and functions just fine on the pole or handheld. I like they Lyre mount much better than the flimsy (and less durable) Softie rubber pistol grip mount. The Lyre mount comes with a short XLR cable to get you to the female XLR port if you have an internally-cabled pole.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well with Sennheiser ME67 I need a way to handhold the long shotgun ME67 and also mount the mic on a tripod. The Lyre Mount and Pistol Grip is perfect. It totally isolates the mic from handling noise. I mounted a quick release plate to the bottom of the hand grip so if the talent isn't moving around I put the mic on a tripod. Well made product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile and quality This is my first shockmount, and given the quality and versatility with the pistol grip, I'd say this was a worthwhile purchase. It feels a little cheap when feeling the plastic, but nothing has broke and it has performed excellent thus far. The only complaint is the price, which seems to be a little steep.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome stuff I teach high school students who, generally, are not very critical of their audio quality when shooting, especially outdoors. The Softie not only looks cool to them, but it really takes out several levels of unwanted audio. Great stuff!
