ART SLA-1 overview

  • 1Description

The SLA-1 from ART is a rack mountable two-channel power amplifier designed for studio use. It offers a wide frequency response with very low noise and distortion for quality audio output. XLR and 1/4" input connectors are provided, along with five-way binding post outputs. Each channel has its own level control on the front panel.

The SLA-1 can operate in stereo or bridged mode, and features a ground-lift switch to eliminate hum caused by ground loops. The unit offers full protection circuitry for short circuits, overloads, and overheating. If any faults are detected, the amplifier will disconnect the outputs and automatically return to normal operation when the fault is fixed. The SmartFan cooling system offers silent fan-assisted convection cooling to keep the system running reliably.

    ART SLA-1 reviews

    SLA-1 - 100W 2-Channel Amplifier is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Power Amp I've owned this power amp for about 4 years now. I use it for guitar though. I run a small tube amp into a dummy load then into a tube EQ and FX unit and into this amp. I can get the best sounds I have ever had at any volume as the tube amp is cranked up all the time. I'm not sure if the other user has a defective unit or not but I have never even noticed the fan even when I am home alone in my living room and turn the thing on. I've tried a couple of other power amps and this one seemed to have the best clarity and sound but again I am using it for guitar but I will add that I am an extremely picky tone fanatic!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Thin, inaccurate sound, noisy fan Don't try to mix things using this amp. The sound is totally hopeless for accurate mixing. There is almost no bass response, and the overall tone is biased toward the high-end. The fan is far too noisy for small studio use. Place the unit in a separate room. While the rated power is 100 Watts, I don't believe it actually comes close to that in real-world use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My second one I have had one on for about 10 years 24 Hr / day and it went into protect on one channel. Very small fits in rack so I bought another. I hope it lasts another 10 years
