The TR8 is a bi-amplified, two-way studio monitor that shares much of the heritage of Event's flagship speakers, the 20/20bas, namely the drivers, crossover and enclosure, but utilizes new, high efficiency amplifiers. The new amplifiers provide high output, lower distortion, smoother amplitude and phase response and extended bandwidth.
Each TR8 is identical and therefore there is no acoustic distinction between the left and right speakers when used in stereo pairs. The cabinets can sit vertically or horizontally without impacting performance, so long as both cabinets are situated in the same direction. A front mounted bass port allows the monitor to be placed near a back wall without impacting bass response.
An input sensitivity control is used to compensate for different signal levels that appear at the input of the TR8. The control has a 20dB range. Multiple input connections are available and include XLR, both balanced and unbalanced, 1/4" TRS/TS phone, also allowing for balanced and unbalanced operation and an unbalanced RCA coaxial input. The cabinet is manufactured from 5/8" laminated MDF and filled with acoustical damping material to reduce internal standing waves.
