This Matthews RoadRags II Kit is a portable lighting modification system that helps you to quickly and easily duplicate studio lighting effects on location, using your portable lights. The elastic corded frames easily fold for storing and transporting. A simple "flick of the wrist" is all that's required to quickly open the frame making it ready to use.

By using the different materials, you are able to quickly create contrasts, different light ratios, diffusion or block the light. The RoadRags Kit fits easily into most lighting bags. Additional fabrics are available separately.

RoadRags are designed for use under a controlled environment. Wind and/or other weather conditions may cause damage to this product.

Single and double scrim diminish the light.
The flag acts as gobo, to totally block light.
The artificial silk softens and diminishes the light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great location kit I bought this kit to use with a pair of Profoto B1 strobes for extra light control on location and when traveling. It's very portable, lightweight and quick and easy to set up. I have the kit, two extra flags, two extra silks, a silver reflector and two extra frames (4 in total), all packed in the supplied kit bag. The frames are strong enough for my purposes, although I haven't yet tried using them outdoors in the wind - the base attachment of the arms looks like it could be a weak point given enough force. I've been mounting the kit on Manfrotto 1051BAC light stands, using Matthews mini-grip heads, rods and mini-matthelini clamps which work very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for LEDs I needed a simple kit to travel with my 1x1 LEDs for location interviews. This is the best design for compact travel and easy setup. Plus, Matthews quality materials. If you've looked for soft-boxes for your LEDs you've found they only take the 12x12 light and make it into a 14x14 light source. Not big enough for a pleasing portrait/interview shot. Adding the Matthews Minigrip Mounting Kit and an additional Matthews RoadRags II Artificial Silk gives you two nice, large, diffused lights for interviews.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE BEST As a traveling commercial photographer, I need reliable equipment that is light weight and compact. The Matthews Roadrags Kit fits these needs. The frames are one piece aluminum shock-cord construction. Folded they are apx. 24 long. The case is apx. 10x29 and fits into tripod/lightstand bags. The flags setup and tear-down quickly and are better quality than other brands of portable flags that I have owned. I recommend you pair this kit with the Matthews Minigrip Mounting Kit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great travel solution for flags and nets This is a great kit that solves the challenge of traveling with bulky flags and nets. My only complaint is with the contents: I wish it had two flags + two nets, instead of one flag + two nets + one silk diffusion. There are lots of easy ways to diffuse a light on location, which makes the silk less important, and it would be more valuable to have two flags.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great portable lighting control kit The RoadRags Kits offer a very portable means to have some basic lighting control devices with you at all times. Basically, the kit includes two collapsable metal frames that, once expanded, allow you to slide on various custom fabrics that then give you a lighting control device you can support with any C-Stand or grip head. The kits comes with several diffusion and flag accessories. Note that this is the larger version of the kit and the flags, diffusion devices are quite large. I own one of the smaller kits and one of the larger kits and they take up way less space than if you were to carry around standard flags and silks. A bit expensive but well-made and very portable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RoadRags--5 Road Rage--0 I got the RoadRags II Kit plus extra frames, scrims, silks, reflectors, etc. to help sculpt and shape light on video shoots and short films. There's several things that are crucial to me about this purchase: 1) they're incredibly light, 2) they're portable and 3) they work! My only negative is they are pricey, but only on the front end purchase. If you ever have used standard flags and scrims and have had to send them back to the factory for repair on top of return postage then you'll appreciate how much these can save you on costly shipping for factory repairs. Torn flag? Just order a replacement flag. Quick and simple. I'm pretty much a One Man Band so I'm sold on the portability of this kit: no need to go out and purchase a grip truck, it fits nicely in my grip case. They go together quickly and tear down easily for transport. Another amazing Matthews product that works extremely well. I thought long and hard about getting the smaller kit, but am glad I went with the 24 X 36 inch size. In my opinion, it's much more usable on location to have the larger size flags, scrims and silks. I may add on the smaller RoadRags I Kit down the road, but for now I'm totally satisfied with the RoadRags II Kit. That being said, if I were lighting full feature films I would bite the bullet and purchase standard flags, scrims, silks and reflectors along with a grip truck. But for a smaller production crew the RoadRags are hard to beat.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Only One Flag? i am happy with the concept and build quality, the bag could be done better-- but-- and I am at fault for not reading close -- it's disappointing that for this fee you only get one of each fabric-- so you can't have two flags up at one time. I guess I need to order more for this kit to make it complete, which is a drag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent kit for location and travel I purchased this kit for use with a couple of Profoto B1 heads, to allow more light control on location and when traveling. It's quick and easy to set up, and seems pretty robust so far - although I haven't yet used it outdoors in windy conditions. I can see that the base mounting of the poles might be a weak point given enough stress, so not as strong as a non-folding flag for example. I have the kit, a couple of extra frames, two extra flags, two extra silks and a silver reflector - all of which fits into the kit case.
