Behringer B-2 Pro overview

  • 1Description

The B-2 Pro Large Diaphragm Multi-Pattern Studio Condenser Microphone from Behringer features a pressure-gradient, gold-sputtered, dual-diaphragm capsule that delivers a transparent 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response while handling SPLs up to 135 dB (145 dB with pad), resulting in clean, transparent audio even at transient peak levels. The B-2 offers switchable cardioid, omni-directional, and figure-of-eight polar patterns for versatile use in most recording scenarios. A -10 dB pad switch provides headroom when recording loud signals that can distort on input, and a low-frequency roll-off switch minimizes low-end noise at 150 Hz and below. The microphone includes a shockmount, windscreen, and carrying case.

Switchable Polar Patterns
The B-2 features omni-directional, cardioid, and figure-8 polar patterns for added flexibility.
High-Pass Filter Switch
A high-pass filter switch cuts low frequencies below 150 Hz. This is useful when ambient hum or line noise is prevalent.
-10 dB Pad Switch
The B-2 is capable of handling Sound Pressure Levels of up to 135 dB, and a -10 dB pad switch allows for SPLs up to 145 dB before distortion occurs.

    Behringer B-2 Pro reviews

B-2 Pro Large Diaphragm Multi-Pattern Studio Condenser Microphone is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value for the price This mic is a great value for the price. I too am an Audio Engineer/TV Broadcast Engineer, and the advertised specs do check out as stated. You can get a defective product from anyone, and the guy who mentions a -40db cracking sound should get another mic of the same brand and model before posting a negative review without actually getting to the heart of the problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Quality Good Price I use this mic for recording individual instruments in a band and also as an audience/ambient mic in theatrical and live sound recording situations. For the price, you can't beat it. Just beware that with the decent price comes average construction and ruggedness. Take care of this mic and it will be fine, drop it a few times and you'll be buying another one!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Good Mic at a Great Price! Indigo said I wonder how many are professional audio engineers?... Shame on me for trying to save some cash and listening to the words of amateurs. Besides lacking the common sense to send the mic back to try another one (B&H has one of the best service sections around) he decides to insult folks in the process....very pro level by anyone standards. This is a fine mic, and it covers a lot of bases well. Most vox, both M & F, A Dean EAB, Acoustic Guitar, and Drum Overheads is where I use this a lot, and it shines in all of these situations. It does not have that annoying, screechy high end most lower price import mic's have. The better the preamp, the better the sound. Overall, a great deal on a good multi-pattern mic.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Corrosion on case and shock mount I'd give the microphone at least 4 stars because it sounds GREAT, but how can I trust it to last as long as it should when there is corrosion on the case and shock mount (which was inside the case with the mic)?I did not notice it right away. I was anxious to set up my new gear, which I am using for freelance voice over work.I sent an e-mail to B&H, ...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Start I use this mic for almost everything and the sound is very clear. Big advantage between this model and the B1 is the switch between pickup patterns.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It's cheap for a reason folks... When I received this microphone, it sounded great through the monitors and all was fine yesterday. But today I started some recording tests through my PreSonus/Digi 002 but there was a -40db crackling and static sound. I replaced all the cables with no result, then I bypassed the PreSonus and went through the Digi 002 only, but still nothing. Then I ran mic through a portable field mixer thinking it was my sound card and I still got the nasty crackling. I took out two other condensor mics including a Rode NTG-3 and they were absolutely clean. The problem is the B-2 Pro. The funny thing is that I based my purchase off the people who left good reviews here... I wonder how many are professional audio engineers? ... Shame on me for trying to save some cash and listening to the words of amateurs. Anyway, buy it if you don't care about -40db crackling in the background of your recordings. Otherwise, get a 'REAL' studio mic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it My first large-diaphragm condener microphone. After comparing specs with others this one won out because of the good reviews, 3 polar pattern switch and price. That Behringer is also known for other audio equipment doesn't hurt...and an aluminum case with shockmount and windscreen rounded things out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low price - high quality Used in home studio recording and sports pa announcing. Excellent quality and value. Nice case for microphone and accessories. Only problem is the windscreen has the egg-crate shape on one of its side from the padding in the case.
