    Davis & Sanford W3 reviews

W3 Universal Folding Dolly with 3" Wheels is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 333.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Haven't used it much. This came as a free gift with the purchase of my tripod. I am a filmmaker and I use the Canon 7d for it's fantastic hd video capabilities. For video I have just not been able to get much use out of this dolly. Under the right conditions I feel like it would work ok. I just have not yet been in the right conditions. You would need a completely smooth surface to get any good shot out of this dolly. Or maybe if you build a track for it. It has easy set up and tear down and is pretty stable. The wheels lock down pretty steady too. I am sure with a little practice and a dolly track I would be giving a better review. Hope this helps.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Affordable dolly I bought this dolly to use with my Manfrotto 055xprob & Canon 7d. Works well on a clean, flat surface. I added a bit of weight to give it a smoother roll but it does have its limitations due to the 3 hard rubber wheels. The adjustable tripod mount positions are made of plastic and not metal like in the pictures. Be careful not to over-tighten them for risk of cracking the plastic around the tighteners. That being said, it's not a bad dolly as long as you learn to use it in the right conditions. You do get what you pay for, so if you buy this expecting professional results, you'll probably be disappointed. Spend more money for better results in more situations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You will be amazed! This Dolly is superb! I used this in a recent video documentary I'm shooting in a local brewery; it was a day long shoot and the dolly performed beautifully - making it possible to shoot very smooth panning and special effect shots a breeze. It also made the shoot physically easier because I didn't have to lift the camera and tripod to move from place to place; wow what a difference! Sturdy yet lightweight for transport; fits perfectly on top of my gearbag. My only regrets; I wish had purchased this dolly before my last wedding video shoot!!! I would certainly recommend to anyone consiering a dolly for their tripod!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy, quality, dolly I am using this dolly indoors and it works great with my Giottos tripod, on which I have mounted my Canon Vixia R300 camcorder. The dolly is heavier than I expected, but seems to be very sturdy - which is a good thing. On a clean, swabbed wooden floor the motion is smooth and fluid and the results look professional, to say the least! However, since the tires on the wheels are hard rubber, even the slightest bump or grit on the hardwood floor will be noticeable as jitter on your video. The wheels seem to be detachable, and at some point I plan to replace the wheels with ones that have pneumatic tires which would ride bumps fluidly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You want it, we've got it! This tripod does everything I want it to do. It stops panning up and down and sideways on a dime. Whatever I get in the cross hairs stays there. Best tripod I've ever had. Well done. The one negative thing I have to say about it is that I can't move the center pole up and down with a lever. Sometimes I need to elevate the angle on the fly, so to speak and this tripod does not let me do that. It goes up well enough, but lowering it is not easy. I need to be able to raise and lower the center post in a controlled manner. Maybe something to think about for the future. Other than that, It's a great tripod for the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Did you say FREE? Yes, please. This is an extension of my review of Davis & Sanford's PROVISTAGR18 Provista Grounder Video Tripod: We're DIY filmmakers and we recently purchased Davis & Sanford's PROVISTAGR18 tripod, which had this dolly attached FOR FREE. Granted, it isn't the best dolly out there, but for the price of nothing... we can't complain! I appreciate it for its compact design and heavy duty rubber wheels. As I already mentioned, it isn't 100% solid performance-wise, but IT'S THE OPERATOR THAT REALLY MATTERS. I'm sure with enough practice, patience, and experience, one can utilize this piece of equipment -- or ANY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT, FOR THAT MATTER -- to its fullest extent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from High quality for a low price My plan is to use this under a brute of a tripod, the Bogen/Manfrotto 3051, supporting a short throw, four foot jib with a DSLR rig on it. It's small, compact, and will definitely hold the weight. The wheels are solid rubber, and the bearings roll smoothly, so I'll be able to move around a location quickly and efficiently, plus occasionally use it for a dolly shot. The only reason I gave it four rather than five stars is that when the dolly arrived, the pieces which would clamp the tripod into place were rolling around in the box, having obviously not been tightened down enough in the assembly process. A couple of drops of Loc-Tite did the trick; no problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for the price. We ordered this product and the first one came damaged. I called B&H and they emailed me the RMA information to send it back. They sent me the second one, which had no damage, in a very timely manner. The product is just what we need to have smooth video for some of the videos we shoot. The whole process of dealing with B&H from the original order to the product being in our hands is very easy. We will continue to do business with B&H. Great service!
