    DPA Microphones UA0896 reviews

    UA0896 Windscreen for 0.75" (19mm) Microphones is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well made indoor screen; not so good for outdoors This is a good windscreen for indoor use and will tame light gusts like you would get from HVAC vents. It's also fairly transparent which is great for EQ'ing in post. However, this screen isn't a good choice for outdoor use if it's windy. I've used them in conjunction with dead rats/furries and they're not nearly as effective as other solutions like Rycote Softies and the Shure A81WS. Stemming from a discussion about another windscreen here on B&H, the DPA UA0896 is 3.75 inches long by about 2.3 inches wide (outside measurements), and the hole for the mic is about 5/8-inch (0.63 inch) wide and about 2.25 inches deep. The DPA windscreen material has quite a bit of give; I've had no problems putting 21-22 mm wide (0.86 inch) mics into them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value windscreen This windscreen works nicely for any pencil condenser mic between 19-22mm diameter. If you need extra wind protection, Windcutter sells several different types of fur windscreens that fit right over the UA0896. This combination rivals anything Rycote sells for wind noise reduction, for a lot less money. Highly recommended for outdoor recording.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top notch screen Solid, big screen. The way it is designed, I do note that you want to avoid crushing it, as it is a bit firmer than lighter weight more cloth-like screens and would be less likely to retain its shape. It is obviously not a small screen either - for indoor work I usually use the smaller DPA screens, but they block out far less wind than these. Works excellently with the DPA 402x series as well as the fullsize mics. I bought and am using these screens with other brands of mics I own (Schoeps CMC6 series) as well as my DPAs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect for dpa 402x series, too These screens are advertised for the 401x series of DPA mics, but they also work perfectly with the 402x series. They'll also work for the akg 460/480 series and neumann km184/140 series

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product!!! Great price!!! I've have used these indoors and outdoors and they are great for reducing a/c and wind noise. they fit both pairs of my mics which are not dpa's, one pair are 19mm and the other 21mm, with no problems at all. For high wind situations dead rat or fur covers are still recommended on top, but these will provide good protection for light to medium duty situations.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for mild winds I've been using these for years and just got a replacement. They are good for your average breezy day but are not good for blocking 20mph+ winds. Good audio transparency. They would be great for drum overheads in most situations. A good value, but you need a set of fuzzy windscreens as well for windier days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful indoor screen Priced right and keeps air movements out of the mic indoors. Not very effective in true wind, but that's not what it was designed for either. Used on Oktava MK-012 on indoor boom. Not made of cheap foam like some. Should last a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Bang For Your Buck Just as previous folks have stated, this is the best deal on genuine DPA wind screens, they can easily handle up to 20mph winds. Go get Them !
