PowerCore FireWire is a rack mount, open DSP-platform processor for use with any VST or Audio Unit compatible audio application such as Logic, Cubase, Nuendo or Performer. The unit also enables laptop users and professionals constantly on the move to take advantage of the wide selection of professional tools supplied. The power of the host processor has always been the bane of the native audio recording. Now even complex mixes are possible since it offers almost twice the power of the PCI-card version.
Extremely power-demanding tools like mastering dynamics, reverbs and other professional virtual processors run on PowerCore FireWire without draining the host computer's resources. Included in the unit are fourteen virtual processors that include a virtual finalizer (Master X), vintage compression and a voice channel strip. Also included are two TC-quality reverbs, modulation effects, EQ, and more.
Aside from the included software, PowerCore FireWire users have access to the growing number of optional TC and 3rd party plug-ins from companies such as Waldorf, Sony, TC-Helicon, DSound and many more. The unique combination of a floating-point PowerPC with four Motorola DSPs ensures tight integration into the native world at the same time maintaining all of the advantages that DSP offers for pristine signal processing. The PCI-card and the FireWire version of PowerCore may be used in the same system.
