Yamaha YST-SW315 overview

  • 1Description

Ideal for generating the tight, visceral bass that is so vital to the home theater experience, the YSTSW315 10-inch, Performance Series, Powered Subwoofer will complement any system configuration. In conjunction with smaller, bookshelf-type speakers, it extends the system capability for true full-range frequency response.

With large, floor-standing speakers, a subwoofer helps shoulder the burden of reproducing low-frequency information. Port-tuned and slot loaded, it utilizes long-throw woofers and powerful built-in amplifiers for room shaking reproduction, crushing power and quick, tight bass. Standard features include high and low level inputs, variable level and frequency controls, phase control and auto on/off sensing.

    Yamaha YST-SW315 reviews

    YST-SW315 10" 250 Watts Powered Subwoofer is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big,big boom in this little box I purchased this sub in an exchange for the infinity wireless 12in sub in which didn't sound right. As soon as I plugged this 10in sub in I was really impressed with its punch. I'm from the old school so I figured the bigger the better when I was returning the 12in infinity an contemplating this 10in, but I'm truely satisfied with this 10in yamaha. I have a Harmon Kardon 12in in my family room and this yamaha puts out just as much boom as my Harmon-Kardon. The set-up was really simple, just plug it up and hook=up your subwoofer plug an put in a action movie or a cd an sit back to listen to the rumble of this sub. The only 1 didnt give this 5stars is because I believe the wireless kit should be included with this unit-but this unit sounds great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No hum I was hesitant at first to buy subwoofers with auto on/off feature because my old JBL subwoofer does have a humming, annoying sound when left powered on. During the day it's hardly noticeable but at night it can be audible and I had to power it down from the switch that is at the back. This Yamaha subwoofer is totally different. It is quiet, looks slick and I love having the controls in front for ease of operation. I removed a star because it's not as sensitive for my operation. I connected it to a TV and even at it's sensitive (high) setting, the subwoofer doesn't turn on at a lower volume. It might be just my TV not delivering enough signal but the amp does turn on when signal is detected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent sub! I bought this from B&H in 2005. It's still working great! I have it setup in a Onkyo 7.1 surround system in the left front corner of my room. I'm going to get another one for the right corner. I just use a single RCA cable from my Onkyo sub pre-out to the Yamaha input... SIMPLE! It performs awesome in movies and music (Pandora) off my Xfinity connection. The auto on/standby feature is cool. I like the crossover dial on the front and the normal/reverse switch on the back. It allows you to fine tune for music or movies. Excellent product! No wonder it's been on the market for so long!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 10 Years and running I've had this subwoofer for about 10 years now and it's still going strong. I am still impressed by the low frequency it is able to produce. It is not the loudest subwoofer you can get, but what it lacks in SPL it makes up for in low deep bass. It is excellent for movies a little muddy for music. I would say this has the response of a 12 subwoofer. It is an excellent choice for a small home theatre setup and a single sub setup. I have tried other subs to replace it but nothing really can replace the natural warm deep low end this thing produces for movies. I have it setup with bose 701 floor monitors and bose center channel with 301's as surround sound. I am usually a Yamaha receiver amp for the bose speakers. I have had this for about 10 years and the sound is still amazing only complaint is the SPL. Looking to upgrade to SVS Ultra speakers soon...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Totally Love this sub Paired with a pair of NHT Super One 2.1 speakers and QSC RMX 850 amp. The Super Ones are sealed enclosure and use 6.5 inch woofers, but needed some low end extension. Added the Yamaha YST-SW315 and now I got the tight bottom end I was looking for. I have the high cut set at 65 Hz and only 3.5 on the volume to balance with the Super Ones. Easily fills my 20 by 12 living room to unreasonable amounts of loudness.
