The MiniGrip Head from Matthews is part of the MiniGrip Mounting Kit, but may be purchased separately. It functions as a grabber for the thing being grabbed -- a flag, a fixture, stud, or a small arm. Made of high-impact composite material for strength and minimum weight. Ideal for tabletop photography, car interiors, and other confined spaces.

Mounts to a 5/8" top stud, allows swivel and tilt of light fixture, arm, or other grip equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great with the RoadRags II kit I purchased 8 of these grip heads (4 as part of a kit, and 4 extras) to use with my Matthews RoadRags II kit, as well as for general use. They are working very well so far, nice and light but easily strong enough to hold the RoadRags flags in place. I'm using them mounted onto small compact Manfrotto light stands, either alone, with 20 rods, or with the mini-matthelini clamps. I think you'd need to be a little careful how much load you put on them as some parts are plastic - but for my current use they are perfectly ok.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for small items like my RoadRags kit It's hard plastic, not metal, but it's super light and small. Plenty strong enough for my RoadRags kit, and much lighter than your standard grip head. Stays with my RoadRags. Don't be stupid and mount something heavy on it, but it's great for reflectors or maybe a small (smaller than 1x1) LED.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but...plastic. Matthews is excellent. Their products are usually solidly built and this grip-head is no exception. However, they made it out of plastic. It doesn't feel cheap but it's plastic. Not exactly what I would expect from Matthews. It does it's job but you'll not want to put too much weight on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love these little heads Very light weight, yet strong enough for small lights, boom poles or monitor stands. Keep in mind they are plastic, but not the cheap stuff. I have 2 and use them to mount small LED lights and my boom. Great to travel with because they are small and light.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Much lighter for travel I bought four of these to replace the Matthews Hollywood heads for travel. They're almost a pound lighter than Hollywood heads.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight, strong, perfect for the road. Now that we've scaled everything down there's limited use for heavy grip heads. These are perfect for the road where weight and size are important. Perfect for road rags, flags, audio booms, lights, etc. Reasonably priced too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good..... I've only used them twice but they seem to hold up well for small flagging and lightweight lighting. Small enough to fit nicely in a bag and not heavy at all. I'd get a couple more if they weren't always out of stock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile Grip Accessory These Minigrip Heads are great. I have a couple in my light stand bag and use them on nearly every shoot. They are significantly lighter than standard grip heads and, if anything, more versatile.
