This is the Lowel Tota-Light Trans-Kit, a three-light kit built around the famous Tota-Light. Compact, rugged, and versatile, the broad-throw Tota-Light is a Lowel time-honored favorite. It can be used with its umbrella or gel frame and diffusion as a soft key light, fill light, or backlight. With its adjustable reflectors, it can be a smooth and even background light, or point it at the ceiling to raise the ambient (base) light level of a room. Tota-Lights are also widely used for photographic copy work.

When fitted with an EMD 750W bulb, each Tota-Light will emit a beam of 41 footcandles with the barndoors at normal position, and 34 footcandles with the barndoors at a 180° position, from a distance of 10' (3m).

Although this kit is supplied for use with 120 AC voltage, it can function with 220-240 AC voltage with the appropriate bulb and adapter plug, available separately.

Multi-Wattage, Multi-Voltage

May be used with 120 or 220-240 VAC, with optional bulbs from 300-800 watts, with appropriate optional power cord or plug adapter

Portrait Lights

Full Rotation

Each fixture can be rotated a full 360° with the large, stay-cool, plastic adjustment knob

Adjustable Barndoors

Fixtures can illuminate four walls evenly from a corner or compensate for light fall-off from above or below

question

If I understand this correctly, you have to buy the bulbs separately?
Asked by: Aaron
Yes. The Lowel Tota-light Two-Light Kit, B&H # LOTLKQ MFR # TLKQ, does not include bulbs. They would have to be purchased separately. The Impact EMD Lamp (750W, 120V), B&H # IMEMD, would be a good recommendation for your usage needs.

question

how bright are they compared to the sun? Can I shoot a day scene at night indoors and use these lights to mimic the sun?
Asked by: Aldo G.
They are fairly bright and, unless you are lighting a very large space, would probably work fine. Certainly direct light from them would give quite a high noon glare -- but your actors wouldn't appreciate staring into these things -- so use the umbrellas!!

question

How to I properly pack these lights in the included bag?
Asked by: Lauren D.
There is no foam cutout or dividers of any sort. I saved the cardboard boxes that each fixture comes in, and put the lights into the boxes to protect them then I put the power cables and light stands on top of them.
