QP Card GQP101 overview

  • 1Description

The QPcard 101 Calibration Card is a small, lightweight and inexpensive way to calibrate your contrast. A pad of 3 QPcards comes in a protective resealable foil bag that fits easily into a camera case or pocket. There is a millimeter reference scale on the card.

The cards have adhesive on the back so that they can be attached to virtually any surface
The gray surface is completely neutral and reflects 18% light, with a white and black patch that can be used for contrast adjustment as well as a dimensional reference
A guaranteed neutral gray surface in the image simplifies color balancing
Even with correctly set and calibrated computers, software and monitors, you must balance a digital image against the monitor
It is complicated to carry around a larger gray card and position it at a suitable place in the subject. In addition, a traditional gray card becomes dirty and faded from the light, so that after a while it is no longer neutral gray

QP Card GQP101 reviews

QP101 Calibration Card (Pack of 3 Cards) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice Not sure about the stickiness part but otherwize it's good. You get 3 paper cards in a ziplock bag. I wish they didn't have a sticker on the back because it makes it harder to fold them. But overall it's all you need from a wb card. You can also fit a small credit-card sized Xrite color chart into the QP ziplock bag in case you need one. It's usually too small to fill a frame for auto white balance preset (depending on lenses) if you're into those things. So you would normally need to correct WB in your RAW processor or if worse comes to worst in your image editing software. But hey - you get 3 white balance cards with 3 greyscale values on each for the price of... less than one. I don't have a way to measure spectral neutrality (which is the main reason why you'd prefer this card to a regular 18% grey card) but it seems to work fine for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from small but okay Great: Reliable Gray Card Not so great: quite expensive for what it is.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from QP Cards seem to work My mt24-ex flash's light is a little on the yellow side. Using a curve profile generated from a shot of the QP Card made with the flash, the nuetral colors are now really nuetral. I just wish the cards were a little larger and made from sturdier material. The flimsy material kept it from getting 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for scanning Having a printed target with accurate lab values helps establish a gray balanced result on a calibrated flat bed scanner. When used with an IT8, you've got a solid process control setup.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Little cards, loads of value I photograph artwork and getting the color right is the name of the game. There are lots of strategies using Photoshop, but the first step is to always include a calibration card in the photo. Then, setting the white, black and grey is curves is easy. I've used these cards for years, or is that decades.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Really Small Took a trip up to B&H to get some white balance cards, these were my first choice after seeing them online. I thought they were bigger but was very disappointed when I got home. These cards will most likely be returned due to size, to give an example there pretty much the size of paint sample cards.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very accurate and fits into camera bag Used it to calibrate my Sekonic 758 - very accurate. I wanted to just get these, but B&H's only shipping option to AUS was via a normal package for almost $40!! - these 3 cards could be mailed in a normal envelope with cardboard added to each side to prevent bending - this would cost $5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome calibration card I wanted to calibrate my lightmeter (Sekonic 758D), so this card is great for that. If you want to calibrate your lightmeter check the articles from Frank Doorhof's blog. You won't regret to buy this item!.
