Manfrotto 300N overview

  • 1Description

The Manfrotto 300N Panoramic Head allows the operator to set 10 different angles of rotation; 5,10, 15, 20, 24, 30, 36, 45, 60 & 90° (respectively equivalent to 72, 36, 24, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6 & 4 shots) spanning 360° rotation using the engraved, graduated scale markings for reference. To make angle selection easier, a "click-stop" selector screw is included and attached to a safety cable to prevent it from being separated from the head and getting lost.

The head can be used for precise sequential and constant angle shots or simply for panning and reading the angle of rotation. The camera can be mounted directly to the head (use optional item #3054, not included, for 1/4"-20 mount), or on a conventional head which is in turn mounted on the Panoramic Head.

Note: This item has a 3/8"-16 male mounting screw on top and a 3/8"-16 female mount on the bottom.

    Manfrotto 300N reviews

    300N (3414) Panoramic Head - Supports 31 lb (14kg) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Invaluable As a professional photographer, I want things to work well, be long lasting and frankly, make my job easier. This unit when coupled with the Manfrotto precision pan head & 338 QTVR leveling base does the trick. This piece is great. For panoramas I can just set it and forget it. The click stops allow me to concentrate on the shot and not worry about the overlap. For the average user this piece should last a lifetime. However if you shoot a lot of panoramas, I shoot about 1500 2000 annually, this will last about 2-3 years. I consider that a pretty good return on my dollar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for outdoor landscape photography I use this head with my EF 70-200/2.8 lens to create great panoramic landscape photos of Poland's mountains. The gears are very accurate and the choice of angles should fit any needs for panoramic photos. Its weight adds to the overall tripod weight, which regardless of the heaviness, improves tripod stability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Might have Worked To start, I had always wanted one of these heads and finally purchased one used thru B&H. I was a bit shocked by the weight of the item. My tripod is about right for my existing camera and lenses, but the addition of this much weight worried me quite a bit. At the same time I purchased a new Induro Tripod which supports 26 lbs and a new Induro 5-way head. After watching a video of the Induro 5-way head I realized I could do with it, exactly what I purchased the 300N for. This revelation made the 300N obsolete. I returned the 300N for full refund which was done quick and easily by B&H. Had I not purchased the 5-way head I would probably still be using the 300N.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great, well worth the price. The only gripe I have with this product is the fact that the LOCK thumb wheel screw can unscrew and get lost in transit. They forgot to mention that the lower portion of the head is also capable of turning 360 degrees with the LOCK screw open. Tighten the lock screw, and it becomes fixed and ready to be step rotated at your choice of degrees. I would have given it a 5 star if the LOCK screw wasn't able to easily unscrew and get lost. I placed a light spring over the LOCK screw threads so that it offers some pressure between the thumb screw and the head body. It works better. I pared the head up with a Manfroto 338 QTVR Leveling Base inderneath, and a Wimberly Arca-Type Quick Release clamp on the top. The arrangement is great. I also use a Benro A-2691 Travel Angel Alum. Tripod equivalent (My Benro model was replaced with this P/N) The Tripod works great, the B-1 head is in the closet. I'm happy with the overall tripop / leveling head / panorama head assembly. the whole assembly is good for 26+ pounds of Canon EOS-50D camera with all Canon attachments and big Canon 300mm f2.8 lens and Jobu gimbel head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What the hey? I use this head in order to shoot medium format camera normal lens with 120 film. I will have to get somebody else to stitch, preferably a sail maker is required. This head is a real piece of metal, that would probably dent the floor if dropped from shoulder height, and still be able to function properly. Nice and heavy, I put mine just below a joystick. Cool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product The machining of the head is excellent. The independent stops work well. The only suggestion that I could make world be to add a manual giving sample settings for different lenses. As it is it is trial and error; however, once you set it up the head and stops work very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from built to last Haven't used this much. A very heavy piece well made. put this on a 190xprob Bogan tripod with a 468mg ball-head on top.mounting a Pentax K7 with the battery grip an a 50-500mm lens.Head is easy to use ,seams to be a little stiff while indexing ,but is very stable.for the money it will be hard to beat.
