The Audix f50S is a Fusion Series handheld cardioid dynamic microphone offering high feedback immunity and a smooth, unhyped sound for vocals, speech, and instruments in studios, houses of worship, corporate events, and live stage applications. The element features a dynamic moving coil, which requires no external power. Its cardioid polar pattern attenuates off-axis noise caused by sources such as monitors, additional instruments, and room ambience. The f50S produces a frequency response of 50 Hz to 16 kHz with moderately pronounced low-mid and high-mid frequencies. Its dynamic element is designed to handle loud input signals without distortion while providing over 20 dB of off-axis rejection. The gold-plated XLR 3-pin output ensures compatibility with most microphone preamps and mixer inputs, and the die-cast zinc alloy body with a steel mesh grille provides road-ready protection and durability. A silent, magnetic on/off switch is provided for convenient muting of the mic between speeches or performances. The f50S ships with a microphone clip and carrying pouch.

How does this mic compare to the Shure SM58?
How does this mic compare to the Shure SM58?
The audio specs for the frequency response range and sensitivity of f50S and SM58 are fairly close. Both mics can handle very loud sounds but the SM58 will retain more clarity at the very highest sound pressure levels. In terms of construction, both mics are made of metal and are very durable. Both mics include a pouch and mic clip. There is a difference in the length of the manufacturer's warranty. The f50S has a 3-year warranty and the SM58 has a 2-year warranty. The f50S has an on/off switch and there is a SM58S model (B&H # SHSM58S) that includes an on/off switch. There is also a difference in price between the Audix and Shure mics which may also be a consideration. Please feel free to contact us by phone or through live chat on the website if you have additional questions or if you would like further assistance.
