dbx 260 overview

  • 1Description

The dbx DriveRack 260 Loudspeaker Management System is a processor designed for complete system control of equalization, dynamics, and routing possibilities in live or contractor sound applications. Its powerful processing includes both a linkable 28-band graphic and a 9-band parametric EQ, while system dynamics are controlled by the built-in compressor. Further component protection is provided by DBX's PeakStopPlus limiters, which help protect against too much power and sudden transient spikes.

Before users adjust the EQ, they may want to utilize the internal pink noise generator and real time analyzer to get familiar with the room acoustics. In addition, an easy to assign, flexible alignment time delay and handy 15V phantom powered mic input are also provided for further room management and control.

The goal of a high-quality control processor is to help "dial in" a room and contribute to the overall system performance without directly interfering with audio integrity. Custom templates are built-in for specific amplifier and speaker combinations with user setups easily adjusted using the Wizard setup system and complete DriveWare GUI control.

An outstanding tool for maximizing audio quality in a number of environments, the DriveRack 260 is derived from an already proven series of processors and continues the tradition of providing flexible system control using simple, intuitive interfaces.

    dbx 260 reviews

DriveRack 260 Loudspeaker Management System is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Powerful Capabillity Setting up the DR 260 from DBX to communicate with a PC that does not have a DB9 connection can be a trial. There is very little information available that will help overcome problems. Once communication issues are resolved, and you get your head arround how to manipulate the settings, the DR 260 is a very versatile piece of equipment. For 3 Way Active sound systems it pretty much totaly fits the bill! I have not had the oportunity to reveiw the sonic performance of the DR 260 as yet. But I have feed the unit with a signal and conducted some tests with a LMS analyzer, all appears to be AOK. The issues that I have with the unit on a negative note are:- Poor supplied literature (Manual) Not enough information on how to set and use the DR 260 and certainly not enough information on how to resolve comms issues. Build quality is generaly good however I would have expected that the front fascia panel would have been de-burred!! Sharp edges all round is not a good selling point

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Complete System Control I use dbx 260 for orchestras and live sound reinforcement. The wizard will help you to setup your system in a snap and you can twaek it according to your likings. Automatic feedback supression works very well and the compressor is simply great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected I got this to replace a failing EAW processor at a church. It's amazing to hear the before and after. This is the best the system has ever sounded. The KF300e and SB330 speakers are not on the built in list, which means more manual adjustments are required, but entering the correct data was not hard. Very impressed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lifesaver Got this as part of a PA setup. I run my mixer outputs into it and let it handle the final feed before sending to amps. It has 6 outs so easily handles 3 speaker pairs. Pros - loads of features - fully customizable per input and per output - the wizard gives a decent starting point for your setup - software gui handles smoothly - really solid support forum if you're stuck - dbx feedback suppression rocks!!! Cons - gui can't be resized so it's tiny - if you aren't using computer interface it is gonna be a lot of button pressing to use during a live gig - don't change which units are being used in the chain during a show cause everytime you change them, the sound cuts out while it loads the new stuff in Long story short, I just used this for a banquet that included an auctioneer and roaming floor mics. The roamers loved being in front of my speakers and between some dynamic mics and this unit, I didn't care either. I left all 12 on live roaming with a 5 second max hold. It was so quick and efficient I never noticed a change in voice or even heard the feedback. The EQ was nice for balancing to my speakers and the room. Built in final compression was useful as well cause I didn't have dedicated compressors for all the roamers and they were very erratic with mic handling. I started with the wizard, turned off all effects, leveled my entire system, added back in the effects and used pink noise to level the room. Quick and easy.
