This FLM ballhead is simple, elegant and traditional in appearance with a two-tone finish and features a large easy-grip knob for ball control, and an additional control knob for friction control. In addition, the head features a calibrated panning base, with a independent panning lock.

This version also features PTF™ (Patented Tilt Function). This means that when operating the tilting function the ball can only be rotated around its center axis. The ball joint is now locked and will only provide 2-D tilting operation.

Manufactured in Germany to exacting standards, each component is milled from a solid block of aluminum and computer machined to tolerances within .01mm. Each ballhead is tested for smooth movement and lockdown strength. Includes 1/4-20" to 3/8" conversion screw.

Centerball 38 FT is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from FLM Centerball 38 FT... a great panning ball head There are more expensive ball heads available of course, however this head is very much quality and precision made, both in appearance and performance.I've had it for a little over a year and really enjoy using it.I've used it to follow birds in flight with my 500mm telephoto and it works as smooth as silk.I liked it so much I bought my son one just like it and he feelsthe same way. Expertise: High end amateur (once in awhile for money) Previous Equivalent Item Owned: Manfrotto Items I Recommend: Manfrotto 3021BPRO tripod and a camera quick release

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product at a Great Price I use this head for travel photography (i.e.,size & weight are critical); mostly night city-scapes. The FLM head allows quick and stable setup. An important benefit not mentioned in the documentation is how little torque is required to lock any of the adjustments. The 'tilt lock' function is a life saver and should be on every ball head. Although we'd all love for things be less expensive, the price on this one compares very favorably with others in the quality range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finest ball heads I have used... I use the FLM ball heads with a camera alone, with L-bracket, with on-camera flash, for long and short lenses, and with a panoramic head for multi-level and HDR panoramas. Very few heads available hold as much weight without slipping. It is built like a fine instrument instead of a pickup truck part. Highly recommended, any size that has etched angle degrees.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ball head I use this product as a ballhead (all directions) and tilt& pan for video. This is a very solid lock knob ball head. There are many levels of fiction control, so it can be easily adjusted amount of friction to fit the weight of camera and lens above. It should have a hex for allen key to remove 3/8 stud. Sometimes I have to tighten it up and remove the stud with Hose Clamp Pliers. It make 3/8 stud ruin.
