Kodak Tri-X 400 overview

  • 1Description

Kodak's Professional Tri-X 400 Black and White Negative Film is a classic high-speed panchromatic film designed for a wide array of shooting conditions. Characterized by its fine grain quality, notable edge sharpness, and high resolving power, Tri-X 400 also exhibits a wide exposure latitude with consistent tonality. It has a nominal sensitivity of ISO 400/27° when developed in standard black and white chemistry, and responds well to push processing. As an all-around, highly versatile film, Tri-X 400 is a standard choice for photographing in difficult lighting conditions as well as when working with subjects requiring good depth of field or for faster shutter speeds.

This item is one 100'-long roll of standard-perforation 35mm film designed for bulk loading applications.

Kodak Tri-X 400 reviews

Professional Tri-X 400 Black and White Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 100' Roll) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value If you are shooting a ton of rolls of film and have the time/patience to roll your own film, this is an incredibly cost saving measure. One downside is the fact you have to either buy your own canisters or you need to go to a local photo place to get them used. You also have to have a bulk film loader accessible (which are not too expensive to buy). Everything with this is an initial investment that really saves you money later. The roll makes about 20 rolls of 36 exposures. The film itself is great and easy to use. Good exposures for all levels of photographer and little graininess in the prints.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic but not the best. And definitely not at this price Tx is amazing, looks fantastic, pushes and pulls easily and I love the contrast. However it has two flaws, it dries with a very pronounced curve, so scanning with consistent sharpness can be tricky, and it costs a lot more than Delta 400 which is superior in detail and clarity. I love the film, I do use it and buy it, but I use much more Delta 400 and if I had to choose one Tx wouldn't be it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bulk out pricing single Great film. I've been bulk loading for 20 years, but at 18-20 rolls of 36 frames per 100 feet it seems the single rolls are better deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tri-X 35 mm bulk roll It seems every time I order film these days some old favorite is no longer available. Thank goodness for old reliable. I've been rolling my own tri-x for more than a quarter century. Never a hitch. For me Tri-x is the gold standard for 35mm black and white film.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still the best! Kodak's greatest B&W accomplishment is still available in 100-foot roles and at a good price. The perfect film for my street photography and art photography. I just hope it's around for a long time to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No film is quite like Tri-X My favourite high speed B&W film. I shoot it at ISO320 and use it for most subjects. I develop it it in HC-110(b) 6.30min at 20C/70F. This combo works great for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value, reliable performance I have been using this film for my photography class and am very satisfied. First I'd like to say that the packaging is very clever and sturdy- I would be shocked if anyone said these came damaged. It works well for indoor shots and the figure.
