What shock mount would you recommend for these mics?
Asked by: Ann
I use both a Rycote Invision 6 and Rycote Universal for either boom pole or stands. No preference - just whatever is available. Both have been durable and dependable.

Can these take batteries, or is it phantom power only?

These small diaphragm condenser microphones require +48 volt phantom power, and do not have a battery power option.

How well would these work on a boom mount in a home studio, plugged directly into a Blackmagic Pocket 4K?
Asked by: Todd
Don’t have the bmpcc4k (yet) but own these and use them on a boom into a focusrite. The only concern I might see is that for a condenser they require a fairly large amount of gain. Not sure how clean the bmpcc4k pre amp is. They do sound wonderful for the money.

question

Is it possible to change the capsules to put some with other polar patterns?
Asked by: Anonymous
I was a little surprised to find that the C02 does indeed have a modular capsule design, and it would suggest this intent. However, Samson does not appear to make or sell any other capsules that would fit (at this time). Perhaps they will in the future.

question

Will these be better for indoor dialogue than an rode ntg 2 ?
Asked by: Mert A.
Only in one regard. The NTG2 is a shotgun microphone, which means it is directional because it has an interference tube. Surfaces nearby (such as a ceiling several inches away) that reflect sound can defeat the interference tube, causing more background noise than expected to be recorded. For this reason, shotgun microphones are discouraged for indoor dialog. The C02 does not have an interference tube, so it does not have this problem. It is very directional, and it is a good fit for using on a boom for indoor dialog, even near sound-reflecting surfaces. That said, both the C02 and the NTG2 are a little weak in their ability to pick up the lowest and highest sound frequencies, but the NTG2 seems to be a little better in this regard.
