Countryman B3 Overview

The black B3 Omnidirectional Lavalier Mic, Standard Sens, with 3.5mm Locking Connector for Sennheiser Wireless Transmitters from Countryman is a water-resistant, miniature lavalier microphone for capturing high-quality audio. It can be used in a variety of applications such as a tie-clip lavalier in interviews, a hair-hidden mic for drama, a water-resistant mic for water sports and hurricane reporting, or simply a small mic to hide in a prop flower vase.

The capsule is resistant to moisture, which allows for placement in the hair or on bare skin, and its omnidirectional polar pattern minimizes handling noise, wind noise, and plosives (popping). Furthermore, a variety of skin-matching colors are available. The B3's cable terminates to a 3.5mm locking connector for direct connection to a Sennheiser Evolution Series (G2 and G3), ew 100, ew 300, ew 500, or SK 1093 wireless bodypack transmitter. Additionally, a carrying case, two cable clips, a windscreen, and three protective caps are also included.

Unobtrusive
Looks great when you want to see it, virtually disappears when you don't. The B3 is easily hidden in hair or on costumes, with five colors to match clothing, hair, and skin tones. Use a felt tip marker to color the white caps, for near-perfect concealability. Never suffer the hassle and degraded sound quality of miking under clothing again.
Rugged and Reliable
The B3 is resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps, and works well in hair or on the body. The protective caps are easily removed for cleaning or replacement, and the aramid-reinforced cable gives it world-class survivability.
Refined Sound Quality
The B3 provides high-quality audio with low distortion at SPL up to 150 dB on 48V phantom power. The aramid cable and thin diaphragm combine to offer low handling noise. The flat frequency response accurately captures voice or instruments, and the small size makes the B3 easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection.
Versatile
Changable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations and match other microphones. Versions are available for different speaking or singing styles, with high overload capability for recording instruments.
Sensitivity
Standard, for most uses.

I needed a replacement lav mic to replace one that was damaged on set and I needed it fast. B&H was one of the only stores that had it in stock and shipped it very quickly.

Bias or Phantom Power Needed For Mic To Perform Well

Please note: EVERY microphone requires power (gain) to work properly and these Countryman lavaliers require a MINIMUM of 4V bias or 12V phantom to work. This power can be provided by a camera or preferably a wireless body pack or small recorder. Example: the Zoom F2 provides 2.5V of bias power which will not drive the Countryman B3. The signal (sound) will be very low and gain will need to be provided by a stronger source before reaching the camera or recorder to obtain -12 to -18 dbl. Location Audio 101.

is it good for Rode Wireless GO ?

is it good for Rode Wireless GO ?
Asked by: MARAT
I've used int with the Rode wireless GO without issue. The 3.5mm snaps in all the way and there is still a little room to rotate the locking nut. My only issue is that my camera only records on one channel, but the Rode Lav Go mic records on both channels.

Any issues with using the Countryman B3 with the Zoom H1n?
Asked by: Mike
This version of the Countryman B3 has a locking 3.5mm connector which is compatible for Sennheiser wireless transmitters and will not properly connect to the input on the Zoom H1n. B&H # COB3W4BZP / MFR # B3W4FF05BZP is the same Countryman B3 Omnidirectional Lavalier Mic with standard sensitivity and a non-locking 3.5mm connector in black. It is listed as compatible for Azden wireless transmitters and will also work with the Zoom H1n. The mic does draw a lot of power so it will drain the H1n's battery quicker than other lavalier mics. As another option, you may want to consider the Countryman EMW Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone in black, which is B&H # COMEMWSFF05B / MFR # MEMWSFF05BD3. The EMW requires less power and is designed for use with digital recorders.
