Countryman B3 Overview

The black B3 Omnidirectional Lavalier Mic, Standard Sens, with Hardwired 3-Pin XLR Connector from Countryman is a water-resistant, miniature lavalier microphone for capturing high-quality audio. It can be used in a variety of applications such as a tie-clip lavalier in interviews, a hair-hidden mic for drama, a water-resistant mic for water sports and hurricane reporting, or simply a small mic to hide in a prop flower vase.

The capsule is resistant to moisture, which allows for placement in the hair or on bare skin, and its omnidirectional polar pattern minimizes handling noise, wind noise, and plosives (popping). Furthermore, a variety of skin-matching colors are available. The B3's cable terminates to a 3-pin XLR connector for direct connection to a microphone preamplifier or a mixer. Additionally, a carrying case, two cable clips, a windscreen, and three protective caps are also included.

Unobtrusive
Looks great when you want to see it, virtually disappears when you don't. The B3 is easily hidden in hair or on costumes, with five colors to match clothing, hair, and skin tones. Use a felt tip marker to color the white caps for near-perfect concealability. Never suffer the hassle and degraded sound quality of under-clothing miking again.
Rugged and Reliable
The B3 is resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps, and works well in hair or on the body. The protective caps are easily removed for cleaning or replacement, and the aramid-reinforced cable gives it world-class survivability.
Refined Sound Quality
The B3 provides high-quality audio with low distortion at SPL up to 150 dB on 48V phantom power. The aramid cable and thin diaphragm combine to offer low handling noise. The flat frequency response accurately captures voice or instruments, and the small size makes the B3 easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection.
Versatile
Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. Versions are available for different speaking or singing styles, with high overload capability for recording instruments.

Cable, capsule, and connector are incredibly robust and the sound quality is top notch. I'm a corporate and documentary DP and in scenarios where I have to quickly mic a subject, this is an easy mic to use and hide and works perfectly for the Sennheiser G series lav kits and the Profile Wireless Kits. I also own a Sanken-Cos11D and this Countryman B3 is in the same high ranks of audio quality. Great addition to the kit

Make Sure You Know Which System This Is For

Purchased because I thought these would work with my Sony system. However they do not due to wiring inside the mic. After waiting 7 months to receive these we had purchased mics to use while waiting and never got around to opening these until a few days ago. It's now outside of the 30 day return period and I have several hundred dollars worth of mics I cannot use that BH won't exchange. So make sure you call BH to find out if this mic will work with your system cause you'll wait for ages and then they may not work. Also don't be like me and wait a few weeks to open the package because that'll bite you even harder if you have several of these that are unopened that you cannot return.

I have this mic with XLR connector, I would need ...

I have this mic with XLR connector, I would need to change it to 3.5mm Locking Connector in order to use it with my rode Wireless Transmitter. Is it possible? How?

This microphone need 48v and that only runs through XLR cables, the best thing to do in this case is to try to get the same microphone with a 3.5mm without a locking pin to work with the Rode Go systems.

The W4 sensitivity B3 are available for most wireless brand transmitters. These are the 12 mV/Pa versions. For hardwired versions these are labeled as P4 sensitivity. http://bhpho.to/29juBT7. how long is the cable from mic to xlr connection? What is the XLR connection, male or female?

The cable is quite long. About 4-5 feet. I often put the end on the ground while my interviewee is sitting.The connection is like any other mic. It goes into a recorder or other XLR cable extension. they are all the same.

The Countryman B3 with XLR connection will require phantom power which is unable to be passed to the mic when using an adapter such as the Kopul.
