We use Countryman E6 headsets for many functions at our church. The protective caps are useful for protecting the capsule from moisture, especially on the headsets we use in the baptistry. We like to use the protective caps on all of our microphones to prevent some general wear and tear.

If you use wind screens on your Countryman, these can sometimes pull off leaving your mic with no protection and no way to attach the screen, so it's always good to have spares. I find the flat response shields are best for varied sound settings.
