    NSI / Leviton D4-DMX reviews

    D4-DMX 4 Channel Programmable Dimmer Pack - 3-Pin XLR (120V) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for use in small venues Used to replace old 5000 dimmer packs. I like the ease of setting user channels for my 32 channel controler (much better than dip switches). I am currently using 16 control channels and 16 scenes on my controller but am looking to add 4 more dimmers, for a total of 32 channels of individual instrument control for my church contemporary service. It is straight forward to install and a great price point for a lighting system for small venues.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Highly recommended We use DMX dimmers for our Christmas lights and we use classic incandescent C9 bulbs. They use more electricity but LEDs are not warm and saturated. Most DMX dimmers are rated 5 Amps per channel 15A max. Not this dimmer, it has one of the highest capacities in its price range. This unit is replacing an older Optima that worked good for several years but started flickering randomly. We have not put this unit to a full 5A per channel load but all tests indicate it will hold out. Dimming transitions are smooth and setup was easy. Some notes not mentioned elsewhere: 1. No audio mode. Some less expensive models have this feature. It does have Auto chase/fade, 16 options. 2. Not for LED. Not sure how literal that is, but its printed on the case. I will pull out some LEDs at some point and see what happens. 3. No light rope connector. I have never used this but both of my lower priced dimmers had this feature. 4. While the case Is very solid, it is slightly larger than my previous models making it awkward to mount in the same place. Since this is replacing a previous model it had to go in the same area. 5. The outlets being on the side is inconvenient. If you have the unit mounted next to other dimmers allow extra space for the plugs being on the side. Especially awkward if you had wires loomed already where channel 1 wire is right next to channel 2. Now they have to be nearly 8 apart (Ch. 1 is on the left side of the case, Ch. 2 is on the right side of the case). You are forced into a messy wire setup. 5. Kind of related to #3; the mounting holes, if thats what they are, are on the back of a cooling shroud and are awkward to get a screwdriver in to. Nothing holds the bottom of the unit down so be careful not to Bend the unit out when working with the awkward plugs that you cannot see! Overall I believe this unit will be my new Standard. I will take robust any time. I cannot risk having a flickering dimmer. I would rate 4.5 if I could due to design issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for portable light bars For the money, you cannot beat these packs. They have many great features, like circuit breakers instead of fuses, 10 amp per channel capacity, DMX and Microplex inputs, and they are relatively quiet for a cheap pack. The only downside to these packs is that they are not UL listed, but for my portable application, that isn't a problem. The packs are built really well with high gauge metal plate, especially for the price. So far no problems with them! They dim lights just as they are designed to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these boxes I use these dmx boxes with Dragon Stop motion animation software and they always work well. Fast plugin, easy to set up and at a great price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great dimmer! Been using this dimmer for years without disappointment. Every time a show calls for more dimming power this is where I go to. My only gripe is that they charge extra for the five pin dmx model. Just make one model with both connections and call it a day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works to replace vintage dimmer pack Happy to find an excellent price to acquire a modern replacement for a deceased vintage microplex-controlled dimmer pack. It enables the use of the original vintage controller. No need to buy expensive whole new system. shipped in time for next show.
