Slik SBH-120 overview

  • 1Description

This compact, lightweight ballhead will support up to a lightweight to medium SLR system. The head features an easy to use single-lever release that locks the camera into place with one single action. Differing itself from many inexpensive ball heads on the market, the base of this head can rotate in addition to the ball movement. This makes horizontal movement of the camera much faster and easier.

All-metal construction
Compact and lightweight
Panning base
Base diameter of 1.45" (37mm)
Camera platform diameter of 1.7" (42mm)
Speedy Attachment Without a Quick Release's Additional Weight
Just 3 or 4 half-turns of the mounting platform attaches the camera to the ballhead, and the underside of the platform is ergonomically designed to aide in this task.  Slik's solution here is slightly slower than snap-in and at least as fast as 'vise grip' quick release assemblies, but eliminates their size, weight and cost.

    Slik SBH-120 reviews

    SBH-120 Compact Ballhead 120 is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hard to do without A ballhead unit is an indespensable item when mounting a camera on a tripod, Gorillapod or a monopod, particularily one that allows the camera to be rotated 90 degrees to the horizontal or vertical position. The Slik version is well built and positively locks the camera into position.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Nice Addition for Gorillapod This little gadget is really neat and makes the use of the SLR Gorillapod so much easier to focus and move the camera. Also well made. I was looking for something like this and B&H assisted in my search for the right ball head for a regular SLR. Price was reasonable too!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Compact Ballhead I've purchased this ballhead as a part of a kit with Gorillapod SLR Zoom. It's a small and lightweight ball head that works excellent with a small tripod like a Gorillapod. Lacks a small built-in level, but it does not make a difference when using a Gorillapod.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Compact use only Slips a bit no matter how tight you go. Okay for compacts but wouldn't use for dslr. Wish it wasn't cork as it has started to wear already. Should be rubber. Reasonable quality considering the cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid and easy to adjust This ballhead has just the right amount of resistance to allow minute adjustments. Easily tightens and loosens when needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderball Fantastic freedom of movement. Locks down in the exact position I want it. Works very well with my rangefinder system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Value I bought this ballhead to go on a monopod. It is just the right size for an SLR with wide angle or short telephoto lens. Adding the ballhead really increases the versatility of a monopod and carrying the monopod is a lot easier than toting around a heavy tripod. The single lever action locks both the ball and the rotation making quick setups a snap. The ball works smoothly and the clamp is secure. Does what it is supposed to do without breaking the bank

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not well machined I've had similar Slik heads before that were great - nice and smooth. With this model I had to return the first one since upon tightening the head for the first time the ball was being seriously scratched up. Figured it was a fluke and asked for an exchange. Second one was better, but still had some initial scratching. Not good.
