The blue springs are for the longer pantographs, while the red springs are for the shorter pantographs.

What is the difference between the Manfrotto Spring FF3531- Type 4, Red and Manfrotto Spring - Type 12, Red ?

The red springs are for the shorter pantograph (FF3512N86). The Type 4 springs are for counterbalanced weight from 3kg to 8kg. The Type 12 springs are for counterbalanced weight from 9kg to 16kg.
