    Manfrotto 124 reviews

124 Clamp for 3085 Boom Arm is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality, easy to work with Well built, easy to work with, Makes adjusting the boom arm quick and simple. I use this to attach a long boom arm to pole on heavy duty light stand. I purchased this to replace a cheap plastic clamp, that deformed under the weight of an empty arm. This Manfrotto clamp is metal, and more than strong enough to hold the 10 pounds I use for my monolight (hair-light) with counter weight. It even holds the angle well without the counter weight on a 5 foot long boom arm. I think it is safer and sturdier to use this type of double clamp to hook onto the pole of the light stand, rather than use the grip heads that hook onto the riveted 5/8 stem on top of the light pole.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another Good Manfrotto Product I purchased this clamp along with the Manfrotto 2942 Mini Boom Arm with 3 lbs Counterweight. It's a sturdy and well made item as is with all Manfrotto products I've encountered so far. I like that it has openings that will allow it to attach to any boom arm or lightstand ranging from 20mm to 28mm. This is my first clamp and as such it does take some getting used to for mounting it to a lightstand or for mounting a boom arm into it, because of the spring mechanism, but otherwise it's a very good product. I've read other reviews about this clamp being able to support heavy light setups and though I don't have too much doubt about it (cuz this is well made), I can only testify of it's ability to steadily support my speed light setup: Nikon SB900, with an umbrella in an umbrella bracket attached to the aforementioned Manfrotto boom arm. I will soon be getting a speedlight softbox (either the 24inch lastolite ezybox or the Cheetah Qbox) to mount the same way which i'm sure this clamp will be able to support perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Boom Clamp!! Needed to attache a boom arm to a tall mic stand. I was not happy with the studs/adapters etc that held the boom in place before - I felt it was too fragile and had a failure point (the 1/4 thread) that was dangerous. I found this unit and it SECURELY attaches the boom to the tripod ... offers adjustability and strength. VERY well designed. Could not recommend it more highly. Just be sure to check the four sizes of pole diameters that are supported ...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Trustworthy I have this clamp attached to a 7' heavy duty stand and a 14' extendable boom pole and counter weight. I purchased it to use with my larger (up to 6') soft boxes and umbrellas. The all metal construction makes me feel very confident when I have a large softbox and a couple of strobes counterweighted at 14', hanging 8' over my client's head. Obviously balancing your boom is critical, but I trust this clamp to do its job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality! The thought put into this boom clamp is amazing. I opened the box and didn't expect what was in it. Heavy-duty, great fit, adjustable, easy to use. I actually took a photo and sent it to a friend and he replied, How much money is on the end of that boom? You bought a quality clamp for a reason. And he is definitely right!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not what I expected, but still a pleasant surprise Large than expected and quite heavy, but excellent quality construction. Intended to fit on the Manfrotto Nano stand, but the holes on this model are larger than the diameter of the top segments of the stand. Would work perfectly on a more substantial stand, as it was likely intended for...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn't fit on the light stand snug Deciding whether to return this item or not,, but I bought this together with the manfrotto boom because it was recommended with the arm,, it fits the arm but could not get it to tighten enough to sit on the baby pins of any of my lightstands,, yes it fits but not stable enough for my taste

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Heavy duty clamp This clamp is bigger and heavier than I thought. It is very well made, ver strong and will last forever. Just the quality one would expect from Manfrotto. With 4 different sizes of tubes it can work with and clear markings, this tool is made for serious pros.
