Leica 14001 Overview

The E49 Lens Cap for Select Leica Lenses from Leica is a replacement or spare snap-on lens cap for the 135mm f/3.4 M lens and the 75mm f/2 M lens. Lens caps protect lenses from scratches, fingerprints and the elements while not in use. With such fine lenses as the Leica 135mm and 75mm f/2, a replacement lens in your camera bag is a good idea in case you lose the original while out shooting. The Leica script name logo is on the front of this lens cap.

Same as a Canon/Nikon/Sony brand cap but 10X the price ...

Don't get me wrong, this Leica branded cap is good. But not any better than other brands. In fact, from the back, it looks like every other plastic lens cap. Why the terrible price premium (rhetorical question)? I own a Leica camera and I love it. Top quality-perhaps even worth the premium price. We just don't know because we don't see the hours that went into the design and manufacture of their cameras. This mystique is probably fostered and encouraged by the company. So why would they overprice every accessory? We may not know how much effort it takes to build a Leica camera, but it's obvious that there's no more effort or cost to produce this lens cap than it costs Canon or Nikon. Seems to me, this erodes the idea that their camera's cost more to make as well. It would further seem that if the various accessories were more normally priced, it would be more plausible in consumer's minds that the camera body/lenses may be more special and worth the higher cost. The single battery for my Leica is $285. The equivalent battery for top end Canons and Nikons is a third that. Like the lens cap, it's pretty darn hard to believe there's something that unique within the Leica branded accessory that makes it worth such a premium. I love you Leica, but you need to get real.

Perfect protection.

What’s to be said about the venerable Leica lens cap other than its perfect for my lens. It protects my lens and assured me that no harm will come to my precious glass. Is it worth the price to have my lens feel like it belongs with the rest of the Leica lenses... Yes! If you’re already throwing down the cash to own the glass, you might as well have a kit that looks par for the Leica course.

Perfect fit, excellent protection, and the Leica script is beautiful. If you've got complaints about price? As the saying goes... If it's too hot, get out the kitchen!

If you are looking for a solid and well made lens cap that works well with the Fujifilm X70 lens hood and adapter ring kit your search is over! This cap fits securely on a mounted 49mm filter's front threads and, as a added bonus, fits on the front of the lens hood itself like it was designed for it. Fujifilm take note!

Will this lens cap fit the D-Lux 5?

Will this lens cap fit the D-Lux 5?
Asked by: m g
This cap will not fit because the D-Lux 5 lens has no filter thread on it but the B&H # LELC39M Leica cat# 14038 E39 lens cap will work since it catches a lip at the front of the lens.

Will this lens cap fit the q2?

Will this lens cap fit the q2?
Asked by: Sean
The Q2 lens cover is designed to slip over the the lens hood so while the hood is on the E49 cap will not fit. If you need to replace the lens cover, you would order B&H # LELCQQ2B, Leica part # 423-116-005-000. If the lens hood is off then it should fit.

Will this cap work on a Leica q 28mm fixed lens? With or without the lens hood?
Asked by: Timothy K.
It will work on the Q but only without the lens hood. There is a separate metal slip on cap designed to be used with the Q lens hood.
