    Logan Electric 810 reviews

8 x 10" Desk Top Light Box is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light is not entirely uniform I bought this as a cheap way to scan large negatives using a DSLR. My film scanner only takes 35mm but Lightroom now makes stitching together multiple shots very quick and easy allowing an effective high resolution scan of larger film sizes with my existing equipment. All I needed was a lightbox and a film holder. This light box works very well for medium format films, but the light comes from a long bulb running down the center of the box which produces a band of brighter light in the center and slightly less bright light away from the center. For 120 film it is essentially uniform but I am afraid the differences in illumination would become noticeable with larger negatives. It also works great for reviewing negatives in notebook sized clear plastic sheets. The subtle variation in illumination does not matter for this kind of viewing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little Light Box! This is the second time I've purchased this light box (The first one I had lasted over 10 years. It only died because something heavy fell on it when I was moving). The only little drawback about this new box is the silhouetted shades around the corners. The light falls mainly in the middle. Also, the on and off switch are a little off. I will not return/exchange the box unless the functions stop working. Other than that, I'm glad I made this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from enlightening those mystery negatives & slides Just got this a week ago and already it's making my photo archiving project more doable. In the process of sorting, labeling, and digitizing the family photo archive I find envelopes of negatives without prints that merit getting a print or two made. Being able to spread the negatives out on the lightbox I can make my selection. Borrowed a friend's lightbox that did not have the full spectrum light that this one has. The difference, forgive the phrase, if between light and day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't let the weight scare you. In the process of scanning about 1,800 old 35mm slides, I have found this light box is large enough to allow maximum flexibility in arranging and orienting them. I have an old roll-top desk and the box fits perfectly under the overhang at the back so it can be turned on and moved into usable position easily. I have tried the newer, thinner models that do not have as much viewing space and this one meets my needs much better. Would definitely recommend to a friend

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am pleased with this purchase. The size is perfect for viewing Contact Sheets of Negatives. The lighting is very well distributed. Convenient Size. I looked at larger and more expensive ones...but honestly...for viewing individual contact sheets (in this case black and white roll film)..it fits my needs perfectly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mostly great product I used the lightbox for an art presentation, and for the most part it was beautiful and worked wonderfully. Although, since I am in the UK I didn't realize how many things needed to be converted for the lightbox to work properly, as far as it needing a special converter, lightbulb, etc. Now, I need to fix it, and the internal layout is not as direct as I would have hoped.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works, but light coverage is not even throughout The item itself is of good quality and I have no doubt it would last awhile. However, I purchased this item to use for scanning negatives with my DSLR and due to it using only one bulb throughout the entire light box lengthwise, the light coverage isn't exactly even. If you are just using it for drawing or viewing negatives, it should work well. But if you need full and even light coverage, this isn't the model to purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful Light Box for the Nonprofessional This compact light box has everything going for it that the serious amateur might want to have to review and organize his/her negatives and slides for archiving and scanning. It is for these reasons that I bought this light box. It is compact, light, easy to store, and doesn't take up all that much space in a limited work area compared to a professional environment. About the only drawback might be that it takes a specialized replacement daylight-corrected bulb that may not be that easy to replace unless ordered directly from Logan or B&H.
