Logan Electric 810 Reviews
Overpriced
Well constructed and works well for viewing slides and negatives. The light is very uneven having only one lamp in the center of the box. This is not worth $85.00!
Very happy with my application
bought it to use my DSLR w Macro lens to copy all my historic slides of family. It does great because I am only using the brightest spot down the middle of the light box. Well made product.
Very Convenient & Practical
A very Ingenious method of taking photographs that’s works as the best way really it’s the only option that makes the most sense when dealing with something as simple as practicing the art of photography & trying to improve upon getting better & better at each every time so y can master y’re skill on becoming a professional photographer or at least a decent amateur one in y’re own right
Useful for copying slides and negatives
I am using the light box for photographing old slides and old film negatives. The brightness is not uniform across the entire box, but It works well for something as small as a slide or negative when placing it at the center of the box, directly over the bulb. There is only a single 8 watt fluorescent bulb and its not as bright as i would like, but it serves the purpose. One good thing about the low wattage bulb is that the light box does not appreciably heat up. My unit arrived without the bulb. My options at BH photo were to return the light box and exchange it for a new one or wait up to a week or more for them to special order a bulb (which was not in stock at the time). Fortunately i found an 8 watt 5000k, 12" F8T5 bulb for $3.75 at an online bulb supplier and a replacement arrived in just 2 days.
What I Needed
The light box is the correct size for my needs. I wanted something that would help view slides prior to digitizing them, and to view negatives in order to associate them with a lot of loose prints. For now it is working as desired. I wouldn't recommend it to use for copying negatives because the light isn't even throughout the 8' x 10' area.
Good Value
The light box is constructed well with a metal frame and good quality plexiglass top. The fluorescent bulb is the only downside. Like most fluorescents, the bulb makes a buzzing noise which can grow tiresome after some time. Otherwise, the color temperature is daylight balanced as advertised, but the tint skews somewhat towards the greener spectrum. Overall, this is a really nice product for the money, and I would buy it again.
Light and Buzz
Perfect light box with enough room to load on a bunch of slides for review; however, bulb makes a constant low-level buzzing sound that is annoying unless you turn on some music, then it disappears.
It does the trick
I’m scanning old negatives that are archived in 8 1/2 by 11 inch plastic sleeves, and this light box does the trick. It runs with a miniature fluorescent light that has a slight humm while it’s on, which is why I give it four stars. It fits in between my scanner and my keyboard. It’s well made and a good product for the price.
