I have the 450 Intermediate mat cutter and wasn't real happy with the cutter that came with (bought the set used). After researching options, I bought this cutter and am happy to report, we have had much better consistency with this heavier, solidly built cutter. For the small amount of mats we cut, this will work fine.

This mat cutter is a portable jewel. I bought it to handle quick on-site mat cutting, and the space available in my travel baggage is very limited. After a few weeks' use, it has paid for itself ten times over. It is a durable heavy-duty casting, with quick-changing blades. No bells and whistles, but a professional's delight! If you use it, be sure to order spare blades.

The Logan Graphic Products Graphic Series 4000 Mat Cutter can only cut up to 4 ply. The 5000 is for 8 ply: B&H # LOC50008P MFR # C5000: https://bhpho.to/4mHcv2e.

Is this bevel cutter compatible with the Logan Simplex mat cutter?

The true replacement bevel cutter part number for the Simplex is the #702. The #702 looks similar to the #4000 but it has the pre-installed nylon guides and screws used to connect the bevel cutter to the Simplex guide rail. The #702 also has an anti-crawl pin. The #4000 is typically used up against a suitable straight edge only so does not come with the pre-installed nylon guides and screws or the anti-crawl pin. Thanks.
