This metal screen helps prevent a shattered/explosive tungsten lamp from throwing hot glass at your subject. The safety glass that originally came with the fixture works.....until it's lost, broken, etc.
Mandatory Must Have for Lowel TH Totas

Many years after I used them the first time, I now bought two Lowel TH Totas for an smallest upcoming video shooting. Both second hand Totas came without protective screen, which are an absolute safety must have for open reflector TH lights. Obviously to many people lacking the experience of an exploding TH bulb through them away, because the old Totas can't be folded completely, it the screen is on. So: It's a safety must have, you really must have! :-)

Will the Lowel Protective Screen work with Lowel V instruments? Or can it be adapted? Thanks
No, the Lowel Protective Screen (Replacement) will not work using the Lowel V-Light 500 Watt Tungsten Flood Light (120-240VAC). This lighting fixture is not listed as a compatible unit.
