Lowel O1-53 overview

  • 1Description

The Lowel Snoot for the Omni-Light reduces the beam-angle, creating a soft-edged circle of light and rotates 360° for each scenario. It requires either the Complete Barndoor Set (O120) or the Barndoor Frame (O121) for mounting. Two snoots joined by the Barndoor Frame increases this effect.

Use of a snoot will result in a small circle of light when it is attached to the front of a light source. The size of the circle of light will be determined by the opening of the snoot, its length, and the distance of the subject. Consider them as a painter would a brush or a sculptor would a knife or chisel.

Spring-tab mounts the snoot onto the barndoor frame.

Snoot for Omni-Light is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Snoot for shoot I use my snoot to create lighting effects for my videos. Used in conjunction with cookies and gobos or gels I'll use it to create a more specific light source. It's easy to use and well built; however it does get HOT! Don't forget your gloves!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Professional touch I bought this snoot to replace having to use black cinefoil around the light head. I needed a more permanent and secure set-up for inside a small studio and so I use this on an omni mounted to a crossbar. The soft edged circle that it produces on my background is a very broad span but works for me. I can always use cinefoil around the outside to narrow it more if I needed to. A little pricey for what it does but it's a specialty item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snooting My Own Snoot The Lowel Snoot for the Omni-Light was actually much larger than how I imagined it would be. The outer diameter is 5 and the inner diameter is 4. It does focus the Omni's light better than without it, but I feel as though (and depending upon your light shaping goals) it's even more efficiently used with the Rosco Matte Black Cinefoil which effectively creates a longer DIY snoot over the snoot. Along with the cinefoil I'm truly able to shape and focus the light a thousand times better. I customized my own snoot by simply wrapping the cinefoil around the snoot; this also prevents the light fixture itself from overheating. It totally contains light leakage or spills. It's better to get the wide snoot because (again) you use the cinefoil to make the snoot's diameter as wide or as small as you need to, and it saves me the cost of NOT having to buy the Lowel narrow snoot which I was considering. As it stands, it's a nice product and highly recommended. DO wear gloves as the snoot gets extremel hot.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Okay This product makes me wonder what it's designed for. The light throw is still a bit wide or not tight enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition. Really gives you some additional capability for your omni, a great item for any light kit.
