    Lowel IP-53 reviews

Snoot for Pro and i-Light is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not well made I'm a pro, and chances are if you're considering this snoot (and the matching light) you are too. You need stuff that works and doesn't have to be babied. But my snoot came off the frame that connects it to the light, and I'll have to try epoxy to fix it. I am not rough on my gear, and this one came apart without much use. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why they designed it the way they did. 4 flimsy little riveted clips are all that hold the thing together. Why not a little spot welding or brazing instead, or screwed connections as on the accessory barn doors? The one positive thing I can say is that before it came apart, it did its job well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lowell needs to upgrade the mount As someone else mentioned in a review, I too was shocked to see the snoot about ready to fall off it's mount when it arrived. I've always found Lowel lights and attachments to be well thought out, designed and built, but this one comes off as a lab prototype. Expect to have to drill out the four tiny rivets the hold the snoot on to the octagon frame and replace them with small bolts and nuts if you plan on using it out of the studio. I hope Lowel will come to their senses and redesign these four weak attachment points using methods similar to the barn door design.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A nice accessory You could argue that this small snoot costs too much. I won't disagree, but when you need a tighter light angle from the illumination coming from a Lowel Pro-light, there is no substitute. The system was intelligently designed, because you can stack multiple snoots with a barn door added to the end. I have done this a few times because it allows light to be molded to accent areas around practical table lamps, illuminate pictures on walls, or plants in the background. Very useful to have a couple in your Lowel kit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is not what get delivered There is no instruction about using the ip 30 accessory holder with the snoot on the pro light,so you can use a dichroic filter. The parts just don't go together and the front of the snoot has a deep closed off ring on the front that looks nothing like the photo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More secure than cinefoil Up until owning one of these, I have wrapped cinefoil around the barndoors to shape the light every single time. Both work well but I needed a more permanent method for use in a studio. My pro light is mounted on a crossbar now most of the time with this snoot. It's a great hair light for video interviews or to highlight a pint of beer or glass of champagne from above.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really narrows the beam for hair light Easy to use add on that will concentrate the beam from your Lowel Pro. It's as easy to use as adding barn doors to your Lowel Pro. Better yet, you can still add the barn doors to give you even more control over your light pattern. I needed a tight hair light and this inexpensive little attachement did the trick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as expected! I primarily use this product with my Lowel id-light for wedding/portrait photography. I use it for effect if I wanted a moody circular lighting pattern on my bride and/or groom. The contrast and softness of the beam around the outer edges are adjustable via the controls from the id-light. Very nice accessory.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really makes the light narrow! I use this with my lowel pro-light as a hair/shoulder light mounted on a manfrotto 051nb. It really makes the pro light concentrated and you can put it far from the interviewing person and thereby keep the light out of the frame. I use it with a 235W bulb. 4 stars and not 5 because of the fairly high price.
