The Rycote Windshield Kit #2 is a complete modular microphone windshield system including the Rycote modular suspension mount, windjammer, windshield, and necessary extensions. The windshield provides optimum protection against wind, and the kit is a useful solution for those who do not already own a suspension mount or windjammer.

Each custom-configured system includes the correct combination of suspension mount, windjammer, windshield, and extensions (whenever necessary) to accommodate the size requirements for use with your specific microphone.

Windshield Kit 2 - Complete Windshield and Suspension System is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best! I am a professional sound mixer, and am using this Rycote system to house a Sennheiser MKH-50 and a Schoeps CMC641 microphone.I have always used Rycote systems on all my field microphones over the years. They are durable and effective windshield/shock mount systems.Rycote has consistently made improvements to their designs over the years, and this current Lyre incarnation is no exception. I believe that their Lyre suspension coupled with their Connbox is the most effective shock mount/suspension system to date.Quality materials and workmanship throughout, I highly recommend Rycote to any serious professional or enthusiast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great as ever Bought this for my Schoeps CMC641 and it certainly works. It's my first Rycote that measures less than the standard short shotgun length (WS4/WS295). It leaves a little room lengthwise for the Collete amp/capsule array, so part of me wishes that it has been customized by 1/2 an inch or something to make an even smaller blimp, but whatever. It's Rycote quality and the suspension / basket are my favorite design for location work. For those Schoeps folks looking for a blimp/suspension for their dialogue rigs, it does seem as though this is Rycotes answer to houseing the cmcs, mkh 50, and maybe the CS-1. Seems the smaller kits are meant for other mics. This one is perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Available! I love this zeppelin cover. It performs perfectly and the handle is a great addition for handheld booming. The back cable can get a little fiddley but it's not really an issue. I've purchased this cover again for another mic system so I definitely give it my endorsement.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Protection Racket I recently went on a 5 week coast-to-coast documentary shoot. I started the first leg of the trip with my Cinela PIA-1 and Pianissimo zeppelins. Our PA was inexperienced and was less than careful in loading and offloading our vehicle, and I grew concerned that the Cinela zeppelins would not survive very long at the hands of such an inexperienced PA. I ordered the Rycote Kit 2 for the remaining 26 days of the shoot and was glad I did. I used the Rycote Kit 2 to house either a Schoeps cmc641 or a Sennheiser MKH-50 for both indoor and exterior interviews. The Rycote Windshield kits are built tough enough to endure the rigors of documentary work. While a tad bit on the heavy side, the thing I like most about the Rycote kits is the ability to quickly aim and locate the sweet spot of the microphone. The only improvement I would recommend making is to order an optional set of the Rycote Grey 82 Lyre Upgrade Set--Part #042216--and install at least one Grey Lyre on the front side of the suspension mount while using a Black 72 Lyre on the back of the suspension mount (or replace both black lyres with grey lyres as you see fit). This set up works well for me with the Sennheiser MKH-50 in reducing some of the potential handling noise prone to all MKH-50s. I also added my Rycote Windshield 4 Kit with my Schoeps cmit5u for the second leg of the shoot as well and left the Cinela zeppelins at home. Apart from durability, another advantage of the Rycote kits is they accept a greater number of mic options than the Cinela zeppelins. While the Cinella zeppelins are more sonically transparent--at least to my ear--there comes a point where durability factors in when you are concerned about your gear returning home intact. If you're doing run 'n gun or documentary shoots, I give my nod to the Rycote Windshield Kits. While I admire Rycote's innovation--especially with the new InVision mounts--I only gave this product four stars based on some of Rycote's earlier model S-series zeppelins not being readily upgradable to the newer lyres.
