Rycote Modular Windshield Kit Overview

The Rycote Windshield Kit #2 is a complete modular microphone windshield system including the Rycote modular suspension mount, windjammer, windshield, and necessary extensions. The windshield provides optimum protection against wind, and the kit is a useful solution for those who do not already own a suspension mount or windjammer.

Each custom-configured system includes the correct combination of suspension mount, windjammer, windshield, and extensions (whenever necessary) to accommodate the size requirements for use with your specific microphone.

Compatible with Microphones
DPA: 4006, 4017C
Schoeps: CMC6 with MK 41 (CMC641)
Sennheiser: MKH 50, 40, 30, and 20
Complete Kit Solution
The Windscreen Kit includes all that is needed for complete setup and use. Each kit includes the necessary modular suspension mount, windshield, windjammer and extensions.
Hytrel Plastic Construction
A material called Hytrel is used on the end rings and shield. The material aids in creating the "dead" space necessary for quiet operation.
Interlocking Ends
Modular locking end rings provide quick and easy replacement of dented ends and modular extensions.

great small blimp for M/S or ORTF setup

I purchased this blimp to have a smaller, affordable blimp to use with my ORTF setup (2x Rycote CA-08) and for my Mid/Side setup (Rycote BD-10, Sennheiser MKH 8050). This small blimp fits either of those set ups (with a little finagling) well. And it is small enough to be easy to pack in a suitcase for travel.

The Rycote Windshield Kit 2 would not be recommended for the DPA 4017b, as it will be slightly too short. The Rycote Super-Shield Kit for Shotgun Mics (Medium) (BH #RYSSKM) would be recommended instead.

The Rycote 086003 Windshield Kit 2 Complete Windshield and Suspension System is compatible for use with the Deity Microphones S-Mic 2S Short Shotgun Microphone. The windshield kit accommodates small microphones that measure 4.8 to 6.3" (121 to 160mm) in length with a diameter of 0.75 to 0.98" (19 to 25mm). The S-Mic 2S is 5.8" (148mm) long and has a diameter of 0.75" (19mm).

No. The Rycote WS 9 Modular Windshield Kit is not compatible for use with the Sanken CS-M1 Ultracompact Shotgun Microphone. The WS 9 Windshield is intended for use with microphones that are up to 3.9" long and the CS-M1 is just over that at 4.06" long. As a compatible option, you can use the Rycote Modular Windshield WS 1 Kit MZL (B&H # RYMWS1MZLKIT) which is intended for use with microphones that are 2.8 to 4.7" (71 to 120mm) long.
